The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Breakfast was ample, cooked to order so nice and fresh. Pleasant surroundings. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly, we enjoyed chatting to them. The whole area is very hilly, so because of mobility problems we had to use the car to go into town, that was not an issue and certainly not the host’s fault. The whole experience was very pleasant and we would recommend Charnwood Guest House strongly to everyone. We would like to return. Thanks both you were great.

One little thing. The towels were very hard and not soft and fluffy as expected.

Very nice lodge on a working farm situated on it's own plot, with veranda and garden area. Went to see and stroke the donkeys and just visited from a distance the new arrivals, Alpacas, they are so cute. We went out for a meal to The Queen Inn 2.4 miles away, missed out as we only went on our last day, very worth a visit.

Getting lost a bit on the narrow roads, blame the Satnav. Got used to the area and had no more problems.

It was a surprise to have breakfast included! and a very generous choice on offer. We enjoyed the choice of cooked breakfast and croissants, together with fresh juice and hot refreshments. We were made very welcomed when we arrived with our dog, Bruce, and he also enjoyed the stay.

Although we were made feel welcome with our dog, there were not any signposted places to take him for a walk. On our second day I found a gap in the bushes between the hotel and the Harvester restaurant where I could take the dog for a quiet walk on an empty lane. It would be great if the hotel could actually open an access to the lane behind the building, for people to be able to walk their dogs.

Ignore last review. Una was a lovely Host and very helpful. Very close to the Town and all attractions. Parking just round the corner and decent proce for the whole weekend. Highly recommend. I will be staying here if i go back to Durham town

Great location

Staff were rude. Our room was a makeshift room. Couldn't even put our Cup on the ledge as the bed didn't fit it properly. Not the best. Very noisy as well where they put us.

Shame such a lovely setting was spoilt.

Grumpy and unwelcoming both on arrival and when leaving. No breakfast. Only breakfast if you order in advance. No information about this given in advance/upon booking. Not even vaguely sorry or apologetic about it.
