Travel Gurus sharing their best tips

How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

We really appreciated the wealth of information provided by the host via email in advance of our stay. Directions, parking instructions and entry information were straightforward and accurate. The decor was quirky and unique. The bed we slept in was comfortable (and the bunk bed looked of a similar comfort level). Wifi access and TV quality were great. We did appreciate the hosts implementation of "quiet times" which were definitely required as sounds from the guests in the room directly above did carry somewhat.

Sadly, for us the kitchen area was somewhat cramped and not well enough equipped for much in the way of self catering (even serving up and setting out takeaway food was somewhat of a challenge). There was little available work surface for food prep. and nowhere to drain or stack washed crockery, which became a frustration quite quickly. We're sure provision of a second tea towel (plus a hook for airing the damp, used one), a couple of kitchen knives (for the lovely local cheese and crusty bread) and more than two teaspoons would likely be appreciated by future guests. Perhaps a wooden spoon or two and a chopping board too? As much as recycling was encouraged, it was difficult to find any space to store it except on the floor. The presence of four ample bar stools seemed only to provide obstacles in the already compromised space (certainly, eating at said "breakfast bar" would prove challenging given the lack of space). Since only two of us stayed, the two dining chairs provided at the small table were sufficient. However, I believe any more than two guests would struggle to not get under one-another's feet. Unfortunately we were bothered by noise (loud music and talking) well into the early hours on the final night of our stay and had to message the host to advise of this. The apology from him the following morning and assurance that this would be addressed was appreciated.

It was a cute little pod with all the facilities you could possibly need for a short break. It was exceptionally clean and tidy and the bottle of wine supplied was a lovely thoughtful little touch. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. It made a difference that they were only next door if we needed anything or if something was to go wrong, which it didn’t. I would definitely recommend to stay here and I hope to stay again.

Harder mattress. Door on shower hard to open when hands wet so left door ajar. Thin walls so could hear noise next door and corridor outside

It’s a good location and the lobby is quite well presented. The beds are very comfortable.

The flecked wall paper gave the rooms a cheap and flimsy feel- it’s very late 1990’s early 2000’s. The window in our room didn’t work, which despite there being Aircon ; in the middle of summer it’s no substitute for fresh air. In our friends room, they didn’t get a waste bin and their television didn’t work. There are no bed side phones and you sort of have to wait a long time for the lifts . Moreover, a few members of staff seemed very “over it” and a bit rude.
