  The location of the hotel is good, being a 15-minute walk into Ayr. The Courtyard accommodation is superb. Rooms were tidied every day. The main house has a friendly and helpful reception. The well stocked bar is well manned. The evening menu and quality of food are excellent, especially the breakfast.

  Bed is comfortable. The car park has plenty of room for many cars.

  'Breakfast included' stated Booking.com for £131 for 2 nights. Breakfast was not included and an extra £12 is needed to be paid - and the breakfast, quoted as 'good' on Booking.com, is Continental only, not cooked. Bathroom is tiny - and cold. Central heating switched off. The shower is a small telephone box. Shower gels supplied in sachets, and impossible to open without scissors. The room door-lock is extremely primitive and I worried about Security. The room key is the most basic key I've seen for years when visiting hotel/lodgings. The satnav couldn't find it - I had to ring the house to get its number - 117 - so that I could eventually get there to check in.The house itself is at the end of a T-junction actually situated in 2 roads not one.

  We were told the wrong finishing time ie 10:30 , when it should have been 10:00. Therefore they had started to run out of some things, especially pan chocolate that my friend wanted. They were a little reluctant to bring some more marmalade but did so when we said, surely getting a small portion out of a jar could be done, it wasn't like we were asking them to cook something. This was exactly at 10:00
