A beautiful , tastefully decorated, and appointed place in the most central location with everything quite literally on your doorstep. Comfortable beds with lovely linen, warm and cosy with a gorgeous shower. A traditional old building that has been well designed with a lovely hamper on arrival.
Negative section of review
The most central location and old building presents adjacent (bedroom windows directly 20ft from the market hall clock) means that the chimes which continue through the night ensure you don't loose track of time, but you do loose your sleep. The traditional glazing and sash windows can not sadly mitigate the noise from the hourly chimes or the night time music and foot traffic- an unavoidable drawback.. Providing guests with some earplugs could be a little token touch to help. Nevertheless, whitby tires the most seasoned of walkers and after night one, tiredness took over somewhat. We did ask for a later check out, owing to the lack of sleep this would have eased the sleepless night. It was disappointing this couldn't be facilitated as it would be in keeping with the "boutique" standard the property deserves.

Great location in the world heritage site’s old mill. Nicely restored building and friendly staff. Bedroom was comfy and large. Also spotless.

Food and bar service was rather slow and disorganised. Maybe not enough staff. Several things on the menu unavailable.

The location was perfect for exploring Newmarket and close to where we needed to be. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped.

The house was a little chilly but to be honest wasn't really an issue. Just put an extra layer on.

Staff was great, the room was clean and comfortable and the bar downstairs had live music on Sundays

The location is perfect, the room was great and very comfortable.

The only thing we didn’t like was breakfast, we stayed for 3 nights and every morning there was barely any food for breakfast. People were almost fighting for a slice of bread. There wasn’t any eggs available. Staff were running around to keep up with the demand but it was never enough and we felt sorry for them.

Negative section of review
