This is a brilliant little place in the centre of Hereford, only 5 minutes walking from the cathedral. It's got a lovely conservatory overlooking the river where they serve lunch and breakfast (they don't do dinner, but there are lots of nice restaurants around). Breakfast was wonderful, the menu was nice and the food superb. My room (I had a junior suite) had a beautiful view onto the river and garden and was just lovely with nice details like a basket with regional treats or sherry. The bathroom was spacious, the toiletry luxurious. What else? Yes, they have private parking (which is free for guests) and very convenient, situated just behind the hotel. If you can afford it... go to this place! It's worth the money!

Check-in was a bit odd. There was nobody at the reception and when I found someone to help, he was a bit harsh, if very competent.

The location, and the individual character of the hotel, it was clearly not part of a hotel chain, staff were great, we would definitely stay again

I asked through Booking.com if we could have a cab booked (in March) to and from on Saturday night for our stay on May. I received a confirmation from booking.com on email, to say “ We are pleased to let you know that the accommodation has confirmed they will be able to arrange this for you. There will be no extra charge for this request.” I didn’t go back to booking.com to check until the day before the visit where I found a message to say they didn’t do that and a list of numbers to call to book my own taxis. Needless to say with so little notice the majority of local firms were fully booked or over £100. I haven’t ever come across a pub or hotel that is unwilling to book taxis for their customers. On arrival, we were pleased to be told our room was free ahead of the 2pm check in time. However, though the bedroom was clean, the bathroom had not been cleaned between guests with the loo in a particularly revolting state. The lady on reception was very apologetic and quick to come up to sort it herself. The duvets are synthetic - this is personal preference but it was likely sleeping wrapped in plastic. Hot room though we were brought a fan after the first was completely ineffective.

It was a little more expensive than we usually have, which in turn will impact upon length of stay.

First of all this accommodation was very hard to find as instructions only make sense once you had found the place. A simple map would really help. We had to buy our own toilet paper because there was no replacement despite there being 8 guests over 3 days. I asked via booking but got no reply until we had already departed. Dishes need to be hand washed but as there was no brush for cleaning we had to improvise, which made us question how clean the dishes were from previous guests. There was a dead fly on the window sill and in one drawer and under one bed there was trash from previous guests. The downstairs bathroom needs renovation and there was not enough space to put toiletries in the bathroom. The carpets looked dirty and everything had a bit of a smell.
