It was clean, fairly spacious for 5 in one room. Liked the adjoining room where there was space to put shoes, bags etc so sleeping room stayed fairly clear. This was also the room which gave access to 2 toilets and a shower cubicle. All senate rooms which was handy. There was a separate shared kitchen which was useful too - with free tea/coffee, fridge, freezer, washing machine. They also had a drying room, but nothing seemed on so didn’t bother using it.

The property is more like a long cabin, so lots of cobwebs and spindly spiders around the outside (and some in the kitchen too). Midges/mossies were a bit of a pain at times too. But thankfully both spiders and midges seemed to not make it to the main sleeping area. The auto-light that responds to movement is a pain! They should at least make it stay on for a minute or 2 after activating! It’s annoying to literally have to wave ur arm around every 15 seconds! And when ur in the shower you can’t even reactivate it without opening the cubicle and wetting the floor! Definite lack of fore-thought here! Also, it also controls the extractor fan. How is the room supposed to clear of smell in 15s before it goes off? The pub owners that controls the accommodation charge a bomb for food!

Breakfast was good. The hotel is very dated and hasn’t seen an upgrade for years. The stair carpets in place are thread bare. The windows are wooden and rotten. I understand this might be a listed building possibly but it needs serious attention. The beds are tiny. The pillows are great. Overall it’s a very tired hotel. 4 star it claims maybe that was the case back in the 70s. It’s a 2star at best now. I was very disappointed.

The decor, the threadbare carpets in places, the old windows (sash) they need replacing. The staff lacked any kind of lustre no smiles just looked fed up of their job to be honest. The restaurant staff were friendly when we went for breakfast. The reception guy needs to find a different job. Miserable.

friendly & welcoming Hosts. Breakfast was fab, Couldn't fault anything. Even went above and beyond to cater for me and my intolerance to lactose. Also, a lovely touch, a surprise birthday table at breakfast! Our Room was clean with everything we, as a family of 4 needed. Our children loved the deck chair in the bathroom. Throughout our stay Nothing was to much trouble. Would recommend, and would stay again.

For the price the rooms were clean and simple. Beds a tv and a bathroom. Only stayed for one night so unable to comment too much on what the area , noise etc was like. Was ok for a short stay. Host was easy to contact and replied quite quickly when messaged. It's a very simple set up with dated rooms but in a very good location if a cheap nights stay is required .

There was no fan or any type of air conditioning so the room was very warm during the night. Very basic stay so don't expect too much other than a place to shower and sleep.

The place was very clean and well-maintained, with fantastic halls. It’s also easy to access buses as the stops are very close. The host was really good, very friendly and helpful, which made the stay even better. I had a great experience and would recommend it.

The property is beautiful, well decorated and a fab location for what we needed. Great communication with the management/ owners too. It’s bright, clean, plenty of space and also has parking.

The beds could do with a mattress topper. I prefer firm mattresses, but I did wake up with aching hips. Also, there’s no frying pan so ended up going to the Black Lion for breakfast. The WiFi kept dropping so we couldn’t watch the tv, but that wasn’t a real issue as we were there for a family wedding. I also did not attempt to contact management about it as it didn’t cause us issues.

Shower was faulty and either ran scalding hot or stone cold. Also no hot water at kitchen sink or bathroom basin.
