The building was amazing. And don't forget to ask at the front desk about the history book about the place, it has a scavenger hunt in it, and a prize if you find everything!

Swanage is a lovely is a traditional seaside town, with a long safe, clean beach and promenade. The shops consist of lots of fish and chip shops, gift shops and the usual amusement arcade found in traditional seaside towns. There is a steam railway situated right inside the town, as well as coastal walks.

It's a traditional resort, with all amenities, unspoiled by progress. Amusement arcades are kept to a minimum. The seagulls can be a menace, but we didn't lose chips or ice-cream. The bus service is excellent and ideal for walkers. We enjoyed walking to Peveril Point and Durston Castle.

It is a lovely resort, albeit very traditional.

It is a lovely resort, albeit very traditional. Some might say staid but I like it. Things wind down early in the evening, few places to eat much after 8pm. The main town is compact and the centrally situated steam railway is brilliant. My only gripe is the extortionate car parking charges which were clearly putting off visitors. £4.60 an hour or £21 a day by the seafront, and not exactly cheap even in the main carpark which is 10 mins from the beach. Must be losing business for the local shops.

It was good to have train and bus transport at the same location and well advertised timetables. A good choice and variety of shops, cafes and restaurants in the town and very friendly and polite staff . A pleasant coastal walk to Peveril Point and great views of the coast. A smooth journey on the steam railway from Swanage to Corfe Castle which has interesting ruins to explore. Brownsea Island is within easy reach and interesting to explore the numerous trails.

A pretty typical UK seaside resort with all the usual facilities. Beach is sandy with gentle gradient into the sea. Good for children and swimmers generally. No big funfair type activities. Nicely maintained public gardens. Bus service looked reasonable. Not a good centre for touring, but O.K. for walking - nearby Corfe castle and Studland generally.

We liked everything - the location was perfect as the private path to the beach with 3 children aged 6, 7 and 13 was brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful and catered well for children at dinner. The breakfast was superb. The views were amazing from the dining room and garden. The sitting room was large and well organised so that family groups could sit together. ( It also had a wonderful view ) The rooms were good and the hotel obliged our request to have three rooms close together. We will definitely return.

Amazing location, perched high above the beach with a panoramic views over stunning Swanage Bay. The staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. My mother had a wonderful massage at the spa. A 10-15 minute stroll into town . I will definitely return to this hotel as it is good value. Loads to see and do nearby Durlestone, Corfe Castle ( wear good walking shoes) and even an evening at the tiny Rex Cinema in Wareham
