I loved the interior and all the facilities. The room was spacious for a hotel room in Japan. Additionally, I liked that it was very centrally located (next to Karasuma Station), which allowed for easy access to everything, but it was not in the crowded tourist area of Shijo. Everything was so clean, and the shared bath had a great view to a garden space.

I was told this was the cultural heart of Japan and am so glad we made it a part of our trip. A beautiful city with a casual, artsy vibe. So many shrines and temples - I wish I had made more time to explore. So many great places to eat! Gear Theatre's show was amazing! Also we enjoyed Arashiyama Monkey Park. We took cabs (easy to flag down or schedule with the apps) pretty much everywhere and saw so much of the city this way. I did not expect the crickets to be so loud while walking around in the morning but it was easy to get used to - sort of like the music that malls play in the background while you are shopping. Will absolutely return to explore this beautiful place more thoroughly!

Kyoto was probably our favourite city during our trip to Japan, thanks to its rich history, beautiful temples, and charming districts like Gion. Even with the less-than-ideal weather, the city’s atmosphere was unforgettable. The only disappointment was not being able to fully enjoy Fushimi Inari Taisha or complete the hike due to the weather, which is why we’re already planning to return. Next time, we’ll make sure to explore more and experience Kyoto in better conditions. It must be especially beautiful during spring season.

Kyoto has a different feel than Tokyo, it is more traditional and smaller. It has many shrines and temples that are outstanding. It is between the mountains and the views are very good. Some of the shrines are lit at night and there is a very nice experience to go in the city durig the evening. We visited temples, shrines, bamboo forest, monkey park, Gion - the gheisha district, traditional streets. It has a good variety of activities.

    Truly unique.

Truly unique. Plenty to see, you trip over World Heritage Sites. The mountains are always visible in the near distance, a pretty town. Easy to navigate with road names and bus stops in English. My favourite spot was Nishiki market after 11 am. Very safe place.

There was so much to see in Kyoto and you need a few days at least. It was the loveliest and most interesting city in Japan. We spent 6 days in Kyoto including one day in Osaka, which was perfect. Best spots were the waling tour of the Gion and eastern hills and the Fushimi Inari walking tour Food was good everywhere.

    I love Kyoto.

I love Kyoto. I always feel like I would enjoy it even more if I could speak Japanese and interact more with the people. They are very welcoming, but I feel there is always just another layer of history and experience that I am missing out on without the language.

It was one of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had. It was our first time at a ryokan and from the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with friendliness and helpfulness. The room was superb and we felt very comfortable. The breakfast kaiseki was just phenomenal and the onsen was an added bonus. Everything was provided for and they made sure to replenish things so we never felt we had to ask. The departure was sweet and it made a wonderful end to a memorable stay. Highly recommend!

Comfy beds and pillows, the best of our trip. Helpful staff Location Facilities, coffee/tea/creamer Walking distance from Kyoto train station and eatery/shopping. Near garden and temple Can walk to main touristy site within 30/40 mins. Small boutique hotel as per Australian standard and I like it. It feels more cosy.

Boutique style hotel with large rooms. Located directly opposite Kyoto station so location is great with many restaurants in the immediate area. Hotel appears very new so room condition is great with little sign of use. Property deserves a 5 star rating.

This is a "normal" hotel (excluding the raptors that welcome you in the lobby) that offers a great value for its price. The best thing is its location, since you can hop on any train at the Kyoto Station in less than 2 min. The bar is also very nice!
