Del Sol Beachfront, hotel in Akumal

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Del Sol Beachfront is located in Akumal.

Loved the location, it was very peaceful and the staff there is amazing. Especially the housekeeper we had, She was absolutely a saint! I've never stayed anywhere that was cared for as well as that lady cared for us. Plenty of cool critters to look at as well, there seemed to be a resident Coatimundi who was always curious. Tons of Iguanas wandering around, saw an Agouti and there was even 2 sea turtle nests right off our back porch. Check in and check out was as easy as it gets. There's a grill out back on the beach, which we made use of under the moonlight cooking up some Mahi I caught while there. The Condo itself was spacious and super comfy, all facilities you'd want on a beach vacation. Snorkeling in half moon bay was amazing as well, water is pretty calm and shallow. Lots of rock and coral formation to look at. And of course tons of wildlife there as well. Very easy access to the Lagoon just down the street is an absolute must if you're into snorkeling as well.

Villa Morena Boutique Hotel Ecoliving, hotel in Akumal

Offering an outdoor lagoon pool, B&B Villa Morena EcoLiving is a eco-friendly hotel powered by solar panels. located in Akumal, only 1.9 mi from the beachfront.

I loved the beauty of the property itself and the feeling of being in a more secluded, jungle-like, natural environment! The lagoon pool was lovely and refreshing, even deep enough in parts to dive. It's a very serene, relaxing, quiet environment as others have said. My cabana/bungalow was lovely. The hosts/owners, Vanessa and Manuel, were exceptionally kind to me, even offering short rides for me given that I was alone and without a rental car. This is a family-run, low-key resort -- it was a pleasure getting to know their children too. I even played ping-pong and games in the pool with them! Vanessa recommended the Akumal Bay Beach to me as well (warm/easy to swim in water located at a nature preserve called Tsuuk Akumal Parque Natural - note, there is an entrance fee) and a beach bar/restaurant called Loi-Ha. If you go, try the fish tacos - made with grouper - fantastic!

Akumal is very nice. we loved the adult section.

Akumal is very nice. we loved the adult section. Some of the staff especially Guadalupe who is the hostess/greeter at the Kutuk buffet restaurant is not friendly to brown skinned guest and this is very unfortunate. If you go here please don't be afraid or hesitate to let guest services know about how you are being treated by any staff member.

I think it should be clearly stated that the ocean swimming and snorkeling on the property is quite limited unless you want to pay for a guide and wear a life jacket. The areas where paid guides take people are often crowded. No groceries stores in the area, only 7-11 type shops with processed foods. Breakfast (continental) was quite good. To upgrade to egg dishes was way overpriced. Very few dinner options available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. No evening dining at the hotel itself. If you are not an ocean swimmer or snorkeler but just want to swim in a pool or lay on the beach this place would work for you.

Akumal is a nice town with a very nice beach and a great...

Akumal is a nice town with a very nice beach and a great option to observe sea turtles in the Turtle bay, do a diving course or just chill at the beach. Unfortunately, you can't get to any of the beaches for free, all of the entrance is paid. We found the local guys who were shouting at us and always wanting money for something or trying to sell us something quite disturbing and some of them even rude to us as foreign visitors. The prices the beach are very high in the proximity od the beach. At the end of our stay someone ransacked our friend's room and soon after stole my handbag when we were sitting in a restaurant in Akumal town. I think there is a thief mafia operating around.

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little...

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little beach. There are beaches, many different restaurants and cenotes. Tami and Elliot will help you understand the taxi system and also how to hop the combis (Public van service) that are cheap and easy to use. They are not chicken busses. There are cenotes everywhere. Some very tiny and some meandering through the jungle. An easy one is Cenote Azul. No real snorkeling but a beautiful place. Charge $10 dollars or much better rate if you pay on pesos. Use pesos as often as possible. Get pesos from the ATMs they have the best conversion rate. The condo beach is a bit of a walk, it who doesn’t need walking, but the cenote flows out into the ocean. Great a snorkeling. Big variety of fish. You can see the transition layer between fresh and salt water. I think our favorite place where we went twice was La Buena Vida restaurant on Akumal beach and after dinner walk up the beach And hitchhiking a golf cart ride back to the highway for a taxi ride ride north back to Sirenis. Most everyone speaks tolerable English but be respectful and learn some rudimentary Spanish like bathroom, beer, check please, thank you and please. Whew. Can you tell we had a great eight day trip?

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all.

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all. We had some fun - particularly at the shows. The food was good but not great. The staff was great. The beach was a disappointment - full of seaweed and rocky. Trucks on the beach at 7am sunrise a big turnoff. I would not return unless the beach situation improves.

Location is beautiful, oceanfront property just down from Akumal main beach & Turtle Bay. Loved watching the sunrise from the deck & listening to the waves in the evening. Comfy lounge chairs, plenty of outdoor furniture for our party of 6. Enjoyed the pool & hot tub right off the patio, jets never worked but no big deal. Lots of indoor space as well. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, big well equipped kitchen & living room nicely decorated. Also right next door to Jungle Fish Cafe, yummy food & great cappuccinos!!

The hotel is situated literally on the beach you have the ocean in 5 meters, it is amazing! Also they have a hammock on the terrace, very relaxing it was one of may favourite places) The room was very clean, no complaints about that eather. A lot of space, nice living room with a kitchen, where you have everything you need to prepare some meal. And like I said in the beginning - breathtaking view from the windows!

Really nicely placed hotel, with a short walk to both restaurants and the beautiful Akumal Beach, where we saw lots of sea turtles. The room was really clean and everything was in good condition. The staff was super nice and helpful, and even washed some of our clothes for us for just 100 MXN. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I would for sure stay here, if my path should ever cross Akumal again :)

Super place! Facility in a gated community. Great equipped kitchen, nice terrace and small private pool! Two air conditioners. Very quiet all around! In the morning at breakfast we were even visited by a small aguti. Great contact with the owner, you can talk to him about everything. He is very helpful and understanding. I respect such people very much! I would love to come back here when I am in Mexico again.

Great location and facilities, with lovely touches - we particularly liked the complimentary toiletries which have a lovely honey scent, and the opportunity to use the kayaks, which was great fun. The stretch of beach up to akumal is dominated by hotels and resorts so you won't get much of a feel for local culture - but in Akumal centro (not playa) there's a nice fruteria and less touristy amenities.

Lovely boutique hotel, good location: nice to be away from resort area, 10 minute walk to beach, close to restaurants, beautiful rooftop pool and breakfast area. Owner was wonderful, she helped us book a private cenote and jungle tour that we walked to from the hotel. She also helped us when we had difficulty getting cash due to no ATM’s in Akumal

Totally cool location. Directly at the beach and with the pool right outside the door. Apartment was big and spacy and outside area was really nice. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. Beach is good for snorkling if the wind is low and you can walk the beach to see snorkel with the turtles at the Akumal beach.
