Hastings is a great place to visit, and a gentle stroll through the old town is lovely. Battle Abbey is close by for a visit and easy to get to on the bus. The Jerwood Gallery, the smuggler and fishing museum, are close by. My favourite thing, though, has to be the fantastic walks along the coast. It is also a great place for running on the seafront.

We parked the car near the hotel with no parking charges and used the frequent bus service along the sea front from Hastings to Eastbourne to get to the places we wanted to visit in Hastings and Bexhill. On day 3 we used the car to get to Battle and Bodiam Castle in the same day, which is possible on the bus but timings are awkward. It meant we could also visit Rye Harbour as well. Overall a very enjoyable stay for us.

There was quite a lot to explore, streets in the old town and walks along the coast. We went with grand children so spent most time on the beach or promenade funfairs but there is much more to explore.

    Hastings has something for everyone.

Hastings has something for everyone. A large play area with mini golf and fun fair. Further on is a quieter, older part of the sea front with cafes and fresh seafood for sale.On the pier is a fantastic Italian restaurant, reasonably priced and the staff are lovely. You can sit in or outside with just a drink but the food is fabulous, classic italian, everything from fresh fish to pizza.Further along, the other side of the pier are several little cafes both serve lovely food or just a drink if you want. It's easy to walk in to St Leanords along the promenade and into Bexhill On Sea. Public toilets are available and you can always get the train back!Over the road from the sea front are some surprisingly good restaurant options, take away also available. We found food and drink prices reasonable and although we didn't spend much time in the town centre,we stopped at one of the cafes on our way back to the station ,which again was good value and served great food. We spent 3 days in Hastings and enjoyed our time there.

The Old Town is interesting but smaller than I anticipated. Hastings Castle wasn't worth spending money on but the trip out to Battle to see Battle Abbey and the field where the Battle of Hastings was fought was.

A nice Hotel on Hastings Sea Front. Get a room at the front with a balcony overlooking the sea, there is always something going on there. Remember that this is quite an old building, so it can be a little bit wobbly inside, but to us that ads to the character.

Best Wifi/internet connection I've seen in a Hotel, ever. The ensuite was good, shower was very easy to use. And it's proximity to the "Old Town" of Hastings and the town centre means plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants within walking distance.
