It's a lovely seaside town with the usual attractions such as boat trips, arcades and crazy golf. What I did think was good were the amount of public toilets, especially as we went during the peak time of August!! There are plenty of cafes and places to eat. Swanage is a lovely is a traditional seaside town, with a long safe, clean beach and promenade. The shops consist of lots of fish and chip shops, gift shops and the usual amusement arcade found in traditional seaside towns. It's a traditional resort, with all amenities, unspoiled by progress. Amusement arcades are kept to a minimum. The seagulls can be a menace, but we didn't lose chips or ice-cream. It is a lovely resort, albeit very traditional. Some might say staid but I like it. Things wind down early in the evening, few places to eat much after 8pm. The main town is compact and the centrally situated steam railway is brilliant. My only gripe is the extortionate car parking charges which were clearly putting off visitors. £4.60 an hour or £21 a day by the seafront, and not exactly cheap even in the main carpark which is 10 mins from the beach.
