We loved the size of the room, very comfortable big bed. The outside Japanese tub was excellent, clean, warm and very relaxing and private. Easy check in, all facilities you need for a nights stay. Short walk from Ashbourne town, parking on site and quiet when the windows and doors are closed. Good working AC, room remained at a comfortable temperature.

We stayed with lower expectations based on previous reviews. I don't know if it's under new management but I found the staff welcoming, happy and incredibly helpful. The room was spacious, clean, well provided for and had the views had we hoped for. The breakfast was fantastic. I had a full English but there were other options. It was buffet style, so one could really load up for the day! The location is absolutely amazing, being only a ten minute walk from Dovedale stepping stones, the Dovedale to Milldale walk, Thorpe Cloud and a short walk to Ilam and it's National Trust property. Plus, it is quiet at night. As you have read above, I found it very difficult to square my experience with other reviews and wished that I had stayed another night instead of moving on to a different place that we had previously booked.

Lovely cosy and welcoming place. Perfect for our short stay. Good spot for the teenagers to enjoy Alton Towers whilst we and the dog explored the area. The welcoming pack was a very nice touch. Great choice of nearby pubs and cafes too. We hope to be back again soon.

Ashbourne is very quiet because most of the houses are second homes. Lost a lot of locals, doctor, post office and shop. . The pub food wasn’t brilliant so had to go further afield. Very pretty village where locals can’t afford houses Seems to be a problem in all rural areas .

A lovely town with a host of history.

A lovely town with a host of history. We parked in Ashbourne Park car park which was free but there is plenty of parking in the town. St Oswalds church was a must visit and the walk took us past the Alms Houses. Unfortunately the roads & footpaths are being renewed but it will be fabulous when its finished.

    A nice little town.

A nice little town. Very busy with heavy traffic going through. Don't visit on Shrove Tuesday or Ash Wednesday as Ashbourne hold their annual "Shrovetide" event. Shops closed, cafes close at 1pm and the pubs don't serve food during these two days.

A lovely town, beautifully situated at the edge of the Peak district. Nice shops, a good museum and some excellent places to eat. We ate at The Horns pub twice and it was outstanding, three breakfasts at Cafe Impromptu (also outstanding), and also the George and Dragon (Very good). A nice town with a good vibe.

Fabulous town but needs greater footfall and a greater number of quality galleries etc. All the basic shops are available and great cafes but just feels like things might go down hill if the visitor numbers don’t improve.

Great stay at the Pigsty! Very well equipped and fantastic views. We can highly recommend. The bed was very comfortable and despite some cooler temperatures, the cottage was very warm with central heating and a log burner. It's about a ten minute drive into Ashbourne with plenty of shops and eateries. A great base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales.

The decor and originality of the tent were very homely and cosy, the surrounding areas were very nice to look at, quiet and peaceful but not too far from local shops and pubs , it’s only a 10-20 minute walk to Ashbourne and the nearest pub
