Older hotel and looks like they are still renovating the rooms. We had two separate rooms on bottom and top floors so noticed the differences. Staff was pleasant and dining/bar area provided decent and easy food like burgers and pizzas.

FAQs about hotels in Fort William

In the Shadow of Ben Nevis

Fort William is shadowed by Great Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and lies on the shores of pretty Loch Linnhe. The Scottish Highland’s 2nd biggest city attracts hordes of hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, enhancing its self-proclaimed reputation as the ‘outdoor capital of Scotland’.

In the city centre, on High Street, is the West Highland Museum that explains local Highland history. The West Highland Way is a famous, long-distance walking route that begins and ends just outside Fort William.

The Nevis Range ski centre and Nevis Range gondola provides a stunning view of the Great Glen. A downhill mountain-biking track also begins here. This breath-taking track has hosted numerous world cups as well as the 2007 World Championships. Stop along the way to try the local whiskey at Ben Nevis Distillery.

Named after William of Orange, Fort William has been home to the Clan Cameron for many generations. Booking.com invites you to soak up the outdoor highlights and history of this charming city and surrounding countryside with its extensive range of hotels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses.

A small town but with shops, cafes, cinema and good rail and bus links.speciailses in outdoor activities as UK outdoor centre. The West Highland walking Way from Glasgow ends here and the Great Glen way to Inverness commences. Lots of walks from low level to high mountains with bike trails and plentiful buses to lochs and mountains. The town sits on a loch amidst mountains and the loch is actually a 30 mile inlet of the Atlantic. Thomas Telfords, Caledonian Canal and Neptunes Staircase ( locks) is nearby with boat moorings.

Fort William is a small town with a number of shops and pubs and cafes. Shops for outdoor wear, gifts etc as expected. Plenty of options for Dog Friendly dining. There are supermarkets near to town centre and others just up the road. Ideal base for walking.

Fort William is not a destination for city viewing tourism.

Fort William is not a destination for city viewing tourism. It is a tourist destination for people who like long outdoor walks or hiking in the mountains. Also, Fort William is a tourist destination for Harry Potter fans, since the Hogwarts Steam Train runs between Fort William and Mallaig, and the famous Glenfinnan viaduct is located not very far away. Please keep in mind that the Harry Potter train is not cheap, and the tickets need to be booked well in advance. You also need a car to travel to the Glenfinnan viaduct.

Ft William has alot to offer the tourist.

Ft William has alot to offer the tourist. The railway is the principle method for tourists arriving without a car, either by a dedicated sleeper service from and to London, or regular daytime services from Glasgow Queen St. The scenery is to die for, the Jacobite steam train to Mallaig is a world class journey, and the highest mountain the the UK is right on the doorstep. Access to Anoch Mor via cable car and then a walk along the ridge or just walking up the defined tracks from the south side gets you to the summit of Ben Nevis. The views from here on a clear day are simply spectacular. The Southern entrance to the Caledonian canal is nearby at Banavie, and worth a visit just to see Neptunes staircase locks. The canal joins Ft William to Inverness and boats can be hired from Inverness for a weeks holiday. Well worth it.

Location - right in the heart of Fort William, next to Lidl, with views on the Jacobite Steam Train, 5 mins walk to the bus and train station Easy check in, kitchen available with all one needs Rooms - as advertised, this is not a hotel and it would be wrong to expect it to be - a typical student accommodation: a small bed (it is uncomfortable for two but not too bad), small bathroom but all functional.

The location was excellent. Very close to the high street, easy walk to Tesco and the train station, many restaurants and good shops close by. The restaurant below the hotel was very good, recommend booking ahead during peak season. Room was neat and tidy but a bit dated. Area was quiet but some of the other guests were a bit noisy. Fort William is a nice town and we enjoyed it more than expected.

Loved our stay at Lime Tree Hotel along with our wee dog. We stayed in room 10 which was very comfortable and looked to be newly refurbished. All of the staff were so friendly and made us all feel very welcome. The location is ideal, right at the end of Fort William high street so only a couple of minutes on foot to all of the shops, restaurants and bars.
