Everything was terrific. From the time we arrived to cool welcome drinks, the helpful and cheerful staff, wonderful breakfast and fantastic pool. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. Room was serviced promptly and perfectly every day. Short walk to everything!

The breakfast was great. The hotel staff was very accommodating. They tried to help me recover lost US money I left in the safe a Vila Gale Porto. We enjoyed the pool early in the morning. It got very crowded later in the day. Maybe set up lap time at 8am? The bar staff was great and provided me with extra ice :) The room was great, loved the balcony. It was always cleaned (every day). The workout room was good. We will be coming back!!!!

This was a lovely, basic hotel to use as a home base for exploring in Tavira. We rented two rooms to accommodate a family of four with young children. Everyone enjoyed the comfortable, clean rooms, the cute mini-pool, and the hearty breakfast included with our stay. It was a short walk across the bridge to reach the historic old town. There was plenty of parking and the area felt safe. The staff were kind. It reminded me of cute little places I stayed at while traveling Europe 15 years ago. Recommend!

The host Felipa is extremely friendly and always available to answer any questions. The house has everything you might need, including kitchen appliances and an iron and ironing board. The decoration of the entire house are beautiful. Clearly there was a lot of thought put into every detail.

    Pretty town to the east of the Algarve, not as busy as some of the other towns further west. Tavira has a lot of history including one of the oldest olive trees in the region. Tavira is located on the banks of the river Gilao on the Ria (the lagoon). The Atlantic beaches (Praia de Tavira) are a15 minute ferry rode away and the suburb of Cabanas, another lovely place to spend an evening is a 10 min cab / car ride away. the twin cities Faro/Olhao and a half hour drive away and you can take a boat cruise on the Ria Formosa from there. Tavira has some really great restaurants - both local and fusion. Coisa Linda and O Tonel are very good.

    Lovely place for a 5 day couples' relaxing break - tourists but never felt busy - loads of lovely food options. Beautiful buildings/architecture and so many gorgeous colours. Beach was a short ferry ride away which was fine with us - we preferred the relaxed quieter vibe as opposed to the busy tourist resort towns. Was a 40 minute train away from Faro - very easy to get to. Even had live music in the square most evenings!

    I love Tavira, it is a respectful tourist town that is not catering for the drunk, lay on the beach all day and tacky souvenir shops type of person, it has class and interesting things to see and do like the castle and cathedral. If you want to lay on the beach all day there are regular ferry boats that take you to the island where you can do this away from the town. Of the places I have seen in Portugal, Tavira is my favourite.

    The mosaic stone pavements are quite uneven and can be quite slippery. Not suitable for stilettos!!! Small town with a castle (lots of steps) and lots of churches. Great for walking by the riverside. Lovely beaches a ferry ride away on the island. Plenty of tents or umbrellas and loungers yo hire. Saw flamingoes by the salt pans and marshes . Sit on top deck of ferry for best views. Great restaurants with fabulous fish, clams, octopus etc at very reasonable prices.Taxis are not expensive. Definitely worthwhile if it's very hot or you have hills to climb or heavy shopping to carry. Concerts held regularly just beside the old Roman bridge during the summer. Great place for 4 or 5 days if you want to spend plenty of time at your hotel pool and or beaches. We are really well at Ponto de Encontro, and at Zeca da Bica.

    Beautiful traditional town with a laid back charm. Great selection of restaurants and cafes. Plenty to see and discover. A must is the boat to the beach, which has an Ibiza vibe, especially loved Xiri beach club.

    Easy to get around .

    Easy to get around . Not over developed but still had quite a lot of tourists. Friendly people Loads of lovely well priced restaurants and bars and cafes Lovely 15 minute boat ride ( inexpensive) to the beautiful Tavira beach Easy access to train station to get inexpensive train journeys to Faro and surrounding areas Interesting old cobblestone streets ( but need to watch your step and maybe not great for people with mobility issues) Lovely walk over the 3 bridges across the river which divides Tavira in two The Italian restaurant beside the Black anchor Irish bar is good also highly recommend Ai Mae especially if you are gluten free. My husband loved La Baguette artisan Boulanger Francais cafe . Beautiful cakes , Croissants and pastries but sadly not gluten free. Lovely views and grounds from the castle

    Amazing breakfast, made and prepared with love and you can feel it! Ana and her team are really great and make us feel welcome and at home! I loved the home made different breads, the vegan cheese, marmeladess, all the great options for vegan and vegetarians, salads and papaia fruit from the forest food of the hotel! The breakfast there was the best meals we hat in Tavira! we were always looking forward to have it! The plants that surround the hotel are stunning too!

    Fabulous boutique hotel in central Tavira with restaurants, bars, ferry to beach etc all a few minutes away. Lovely traditional breakfast and staff extremely kind and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask - restaurant bookings, airport shuttle, timetables, etc. Would highly recommend as a very traditional, unique and endearing hotel.

    Amazing location right in the centre of Tavira. Room was spacious and relatively quiet at back of building. Beds were comfortable. Staff were super friendly and helpful and let us leave our luggage until check in time. Best breakfast on our entire Portugal trip! Healthy options and everything homemade!

    The buffet breakfast was excellent and the hotel location in the hilly countryside has lovely views. The reception has maps available of some nice walks in the area. The local town Tavira is about 10 minutes drive away and there's a ferry service from there to the beach.
