FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

We only had one night as a stopover on the way back to New Zealand, so had an afternoon and a full day to see the city, which was long enough to appreciate its delights. it is a very attractive waterfront city, with seawall walks along both coasts, with beaches, parks, markets, historical areas, high-rise apartments everywhere. we took a couple of short rides on one of the little ferries across and along the river and, on the next day, a larger ferry to the north shore and back. There is a huge choice of great places to eat - we had a great mexican and very good. we would have liked to try chinatown, but were told it was a bit risky. There are lots of information boards about the First Nation and their experiences, and the walk through Gastown (the historic centre post-colonization) was fascinating. If we had stayed longer we would have take trips into the Rockies and to Victoria Island, rather than stay longer in the city.

Very nice city but VERY expensive.

Very nice city but VERY expensive. Hotel was about $500 US a night. It was, however, very close to everything, We took a red bus to sightsee around the city, but a taxi we used to get to the cruise terminal told us it was much cheaper to use the taxis. Lots of stuff to see and no time to see it. You'd need at least a week.

People were so kind. Giving directions, generally helpful. As a family, when we travelled on public transport, the drivers went out of their way to make sure we were able to get on and off transport with our stroller. The city is beautiful of course.

I highly suggest a city bus tour and make sure you include the Suspension Bridge Park (it was the highlight of our tour and much more to do than just the bridge). We didn't have a car but a very walkable city, but skip China Town it's very sketchy. Next time , I would spend more time and rent a car and travel outside the city.

Vancouver is filled with such a variety of life you have to go to appreciate it. Enjoyed a great breakfast on Davie street at The Basic Restaurant. The beautiful Art Gallery was enjoyed and relaxing. Just meandering the main street to enjoy the architecture of the old and new buildings was enjoyed. The bus is a great way to see the city and there are bike rentals available for those looking to enjoy some excerise. Enjoyed taking in away at Deer Lake Park with a free Village museum.

Very friendly and easily explored city.

Very friendly and easily explored city. Not sure how well the local Better Business Association/Host Business associations had done at preparing the merchants for this visit, which was part of a convention off approximately 35,000 people who utilized the convention center and stadium. Everyone from Uber/Lyft drivers to wait staff in restaurants seemed to be surprised by the number of visitors, and fairly overwhelmed at times. Other than that, would love to come back and explore the city and region more!

I chose the Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel mainly for its location. I had arrived in Vancouver from a trip to Europe and needed a hotel near the South Terminal Airport for an early morning flight. Best Western is a short cab ride to that airport. The room I had was an upgrade to a King-sized bed and was very comfortable, though my stay was very short.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location close to downtown Vancouver - Gastown, Waterfront etc. From the minute we arrived all the staff were so lovely. Our room was ready early which was a great bonus after a very long flight. It was a gorgeous big room with nice bathroom, it felt very new. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.
