I was looking for somewhere to stay for 1 night with a reactive dog as I was attending a canine workshop close by. This accommodation was easy to book, great value, comfortable and immaculate. Quiet town 11 miles from Salisbury, and in the New Forest but with all the local amenities required, eg pharmacy, Tesco express, pubs, garage. Seemed to be popular with hikers so I'm guessing plenty of walks and trails nearby. The George pub is right on the river by the bridge and serves great food. It's not the place for you if you're looking for modern...
It's not the place for you if you're looking for modern shops. Eating places are quite poor though you can go to Salisbury or Southampton. If you just want a quiet peaceful holiday without going to travel to other places, there is a park with facilities for children in the centre of the town. We went for a walk down to the river; the location is stunning as is Fordingbridge town. We also found out a little bit of history about the "Sandy Balls" name by visiting the sandy balls themselves.
