Burwash Village is a beautiful village. Great walks nearby.

Burwash Village is a beautiful village. Great walks nearby. Close to the National Trust Property, Batemans. There is a useful grocery store which stocks all your essentials The little tea room on the High Street is a must visit. Amazing cakes served by really friendly staff. the Rose and Crown pub is a must too, very quaint and again the service is excellent. Very friendly and the rooms for B&B are very clean. Do not go to the Bear pub or stay at the Bear Hotel. The staff are very rude and don't deserve your custom Burwash is ideally placed for Hastings, Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells

Lovely little village, not much there apart from the pub and a small shop but some great local walks across the countryside and the most amazing sunsets over the hill tops. We ate in the pub next to the accommodation which was lovely pub food and if the weather is nice has a large pub garden.

A quintessential English village with historical interest,...

A quintessential English village with historical interest, it being the home of Rudyard Kipling. The plethora of grade II listed buildings and beautiful cottage gardens coupled with outstanding scenery make it a truly memorable place. There are footpaths accessible from the village which open out onto far-reaching views of the countryside. The Bear Inn and Burwash Motel serves very good and plentiful meals and boosts a garden with splendid views. There is a general store/post office which stocks almost everything one is likely to need. Bateman's, a 17th-century Jacobean house and once home to Rudyard Kipling is now a National Trust property and opens to the public. It is a mere 0.5 mile south of the village. A newly unveiled bronze statue of the man himself can be found on Burwash High Street. Being close and easily accessible to the A21, Bewl Water was approximately a 20 minute drive away.

The room was small but had all the facilities, the bed was comfortable and the towels good quality. However, the hotel/pub is very old, and they have made good use of the limited space. Breakfast was included, and was excellent. I particularly liked they had the option of full or half and English! Nice atmosphere in the bar when we returned from our event, the young barman is charming and helpful.

Great countryside location for a weekend escape. Burwash is a small village but it has its history and 2 pubs walking distance from the BnB. In the tradition of a perfect English Host, genuine breakfast was served in the fine china.
