Mel was a lovely host and gave us a warm welcome. Traveling with friends, so I was able to see both large guest rooms, they were lovely with nice bathrooms. We were able to use a table downstairs in the evening to play cards games. Breakfast was the best. We were each able to choose from a long list of items.
Yogurt, fresh berries, toast with jam, coffee and tea and delicious hot breakfast. A British brekky, or the eggs Benedict (I ordered these both mornings)nice healthy omelettes, my husband had the haddock, excellent he said. Great way to start the day! After being in London and Oxford the peace and quiet was wonderful. My friend was re-visiting her school after 44 years only 3 minutes away Ca

Small town but had a lovely book store ( new and second hand) and lots of choice of catergories.I stayed at Royal Station Hotel which provided basic and clean accommodation for the night.
I personally wanted to go to Carnforth to visit the Heritage centre and watch the film Brief Encounter as it was filmed at the Carnforth railway station. The Refreshment room had good choices for lunch. You can also take a train through the edge of The Yorkshire Dales from there.

Carnforth is a small but vibrant town. There are several pubs, restaurants and an excellent bookshop. Transport links are first rate. There is easy access by train, bus or car to Lancaster, Kendal and the Lake District.

Lovely modern cottage.
Lovely modern cottage. It’s kitchen had everything needed to cook a full meal. Bed very comfortable. Shower hot. Quiet location even though it’s near to a motorway. Lovely walk along the canal and a pub on the doorstep. What’s not to like.

Nice little town with historic sites.
Nice little town with historic sites. Highly recommend the Royal Station Hotel for food. It looks a little dowdy on the outside but the fact you have to reserve a table tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the food and the lovely staff.

Carnforth is a a nice place, we had lunch at the station before arrival and it was lovely and well priced, we didn’t do much else in carnforth but he surrounding areas of wonderland retreats was lovely, and all the trees really made us feel like we were in our own little world.
The rooms are spacious, the kitchen is worth mentioning: dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, and almost with everything one needs. Books and board games are on the shelf, children will have a good time in the evening after one day's trip outside. Only half an hour's drive to Windermere which is the centre of the lake district, in addition the Devil's bridge is nearby. It only takes about 15 minutes to drive to the nearest supermarket in Kirkby Lonsdale. In short, it's a good place for family to stay.
Everything about it was fantastic. Even though it was not fully open. Kitchen wasn't offering cooked meal. We were made most welcome. Nic as a host was absolutely brilliant. Rooms were luxury and tastefully decorated. Great place for a wee romantic break. Just of the beaten track. Highly recommend and will be back if ever in the area again. The other thing I liked was the option of getting a takeaway and being able to have it in the hotel as their kitchen wasn't open. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Capernwray House is a complete delight. A marvellous peaceful country location, yet not far from the M6 and Carnforth. Mel offers the warmest of welcomes upon arrival, with tea or coffee and sweet treats in the lounge. The rooms are decorated with impeccable taste and modern fixtures and finishes. The king bed was excellent. The included breakfast is elegant, varied and absolutely delicious.
Our stay, quite simply, made us smile from start to finish.
This is a beautiful house which is maintained in excellent condition and very comfortable. The Host was great and made us feel very welcome. She made a lovely cooked breakfast and could not do enough for us. The value was very reasonable too. All in all if we needed to stay in that area again then we would be very happy to book this hotel again.
The caravan was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Lovely to see real bedding like at home, not the generic hotel whites. The owners were very attententive and checked we had managed to check in ok and fot everything we needed. Great location on site and also great base for venturing to Arnside, Silverdale and Windermere.
Very attentive friendly staff. I was upgraded to a lovely spacious family room due to a small booking error. The entire hotel was spotless and warm. The junction bar with live entertainment was perfect finish to a lovely evening.
Free on street parking just round the corner.
Keys where ready in the lockbox upon arrival.
The apartment was clean, tidy and welcoming. There where some basic amenities available (ie: tea, coffee, milk)
Staff where friendly and polite in the office when I asked about some of the local area and what there was to do
We weren’t sure it would be suitable for our 5 kids in the group (aged 2-7), however the 3 bed apartments were great and child friendly enough, as well as the enclosed play area with lots of grass and a football net. The hotel nearby was also very handy for dinner.
Straightforward in collecting keys for cottage, which was very clean.
Pleasant atmosphere around the area.
Very quiet in the evenings.
Cottage that we stayed in was well suitable for disabled people.
The manager was running the hotel in her own, we were the only guests. She went out of her way to meet our needs and took time to prepare a thoughtful combination of breakfast items for us. Thank you!
The ambience, the lake the duck/goose .The house was full furnished and very clean and arranged .The tidiness.the Busstop which was right at the entrance of the hotel. The amenities were nice.
