To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys.
However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good.
It looks like a place we will return to!

Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques.
Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.

An absolute surprise - we spent all day just walking round Shrewsbury and being delighted by what we found - including the Market Hall which is something we don't see many of in the south of England.

This was our second time in Shrewsbury and still lots to see and do. The prison is a must to visit and is well worth the entrance fee, especially is you do the self guided tour. The majority of the pubs and independant shops are dog friebdly, which is a huge bonus if your four legged friend is with you. The blitz hill museum in Ironbridge is worth a visit. We paid £26.50 each entrance fee but it was well worth the money and ypu could spend all day there looking at and interacting with the exhibits. There are some oldy worldy little streets to walk down and a walk along the river is a must. The darwin trail is well worth doing, very interesting and comoletely free
this was one of the worst experiences of my life. I turned up, the hotel had closed down. the entire town was booked up because of a rock concert and the nearest place I could stay was 15 miles away!!!!!!
thank god for an old school friend that put me up for two nights. yes, I called the owners. they DID NOT CARE!!!! I cried so much, it was a dreadful experience.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent. The location really convenient. The hotel was excellent value for money. Within 30 minutes of checking out I received a phone call telling me I'd left my phone charger behind, so was able to retrieve it before going home.
This was a break away for my mum and I, shopping trip to Shrewsbury and a night in a hotel. Exceptional coaching house hotel. Beautifully appointed, everything tastefully done. Wonderful breakfast, lovely to eat home made food cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and polite. Overall the perfect girly trip.
We liked the friendly staff, the cleanliness, the location and the comfort. The fact there was a free car park connected to the hotel was a bonus. We stayed two nights and would definitely return if the opportunity ever arose. We would recommend the Lion and Pheasant to anyone planning a trip to Shrewsbury.
The hotel is in an excellent position for visiting Shrewsbury, and has its own car park which is well managed to make maximum use of the space available. The rooms were quite small but had all we needed. Breakfast was great and the owners and staff could not have been more helpful.
Located just on the edge of Shrewsbury town centre, it's a good distance from the river and restaurants with 2 parking spaces available and a corner shop next door. Mostly as described but angles towards an airbnb vibe more than a hotel or cottage stay.
The hotel and the welcome we received was lovely. The hotel was in a great location and was very homely. The breakfast was fantastic and the communal areas lovely too with one lounge having an honesty bar which we loved.
Exceptional hotel, divine food, wonderful room and huge bathroom, happy, kind, attentive staff. Breakfast was in a country style kitchen and was relaxed and charming. Stay at this hotel as you're in for a treat!
Location was exceptional with easy access all the various sites within Shrewsbury
Room was comfortable with a good bathroom
Food at the hotel was very good both for breakfast and in the royalist restaurant.
Lovely historic Manor house.
Staff were amazing and really welcoming. Rooms were lovely and hotel and the grounds were stunning. The photos online do not do the hotel justice, it looks much nicer in the flesh.
We’ve stayed here several times since opening and enjoy the river location, close proximity to Shrewsbury and hotel decor. The one continuous let down is the restaurant food and restaurant service.
The room was very clean and the hotel is in an excellent location for everything. The staff were lovely and I would recommend the Shrewsbury hotel to anyone wanting a few nights in the town.
The room was what we expected. Clean bed, clean towels, plenty of coffee and tea. It's not the Hilton but for the cheapest hotel in Shrewsbury town centre it's worth the money.
Friendly staff, clean room, choice of two pillows firm and soft a nice touch. Good size room and good breakfast. Perfect location for us on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
A fantastic boutique hotel that specialises in the little things! Incredibly clean and comfortable with an amazing central location in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury.
Breakfast was very good and the setting is lovely. We ate in the restaurant which was very nice and welcome as the hotel itself is quite a way out of Shrewsbury.
