Lots to see and do on the Royal Mile - there are lots of...
Lots to see and do on the Royal Mile - there are lots of tours you can book. If you book the castle tour save time afterwards to explore the museums and see the crown of jewels - you don’t do this on the tours and they are worthwhile. We did the castle and the palace - if you have to choose one - I would choose the palace. We did the Harry Potter tour - in the rain- very atmospheric in the cemetery. We also did the underground vaults and walked up Calton Hill. The views are amazing. There are plenty of places to eat - we had some great food in little bistros on side streets of the Royal Mile.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

I love Edinburgh. I’ve been before a few times. So much to see and do, and the local people were very friendly and helpful. I still have a list a (Royal) mile long of things I’d like to do and see, so I’ll be back again soon. On this occasion, myself and my local Rock Choir were performing at The Fringe, so I didn’t have so much time for myself, but we all had a fabulous stay and beautiful weather, too!Guest review byAlibeth8United Kingdom - 10.0

Edinburgh is a fantastic city to visit. We loved the city and being there when the Fringe was on was amazing. Definitely pay to ride the open topped bus and go to Newhaven to see The Royal Yacht. This is money well spent and you can get a great meal in the tea room on the Yacht. The castle was ok, but if we hadn't gone to it I wouldn't have felt I had missed anything, though you can see the Scottish Royal jewels and it is steeped in history. But I found out what I wanted to know from the tour bus. The Dome is a great place to eat and drink for that special occasion. Grassmarket is a great place for food and drink and we had a fabulous meal in a French restaurant sitting outside. Edinburgh has something for everyone. The public transport was so easy and cheap so getting around was not a problem and the locals are only to happy to offer guidance if you do get lost. Something for everyone in Edinburgh if you are prepared to walk round and explore, also easy to escape the busy old town and fringe if you need to chill.
