This is a pleasant seaside town with plenty of restaurants of differing levels, walkable , but many sinfrastructure repairs being carried out , many sidewalks ar in a poor state , so be careful not to trip . There are great bus services to many attractive points , the rail service is excellent , easy to get to St. Ives , buses go regularly to Lands End, there is a great walk along the seafront to the east of the town. A varirty of stores and the bus station and railway station are located very close to the main shopping street.

The high street was in disarray with all the building work. Walking, roads were difficult to navigate with few pedestrian crossings and very narrow pavements. Good artisan shops and The Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn served the most superb lunch.

Love all the restaurants, bars and quirky shops.

Love all the restaurants, bars and quirky shops. Love all the stunning historical buildings and statues. Love the beautiful gardens. Prices however, £13.60 for two pints of lager in a pub with a view of public toilets, disgusting. Car parks have also increased in price. Fabulous walk all the way to Newlyn on the promenade. Lovely swim in the Jubilee pool. Was £7 to swim in the cold bit. Was shocked, at the cost of including the thermal bit £16!. I love Penzance, I have been many times, however prices are starting to get stupid.

Good base for day trips. Railway and bus station.

Good base for day trips. Railway and bus station. Short walk to Newlyn along promenade. Admiral Benbow Pub is a must to visit. Also Morrab Gardens and Penlee House and Park well worth a visit. Ferry to Scilly Isles, but would recommend having at least a night's stay on St Mary's Island or Tresco Island. St Michael's Mount just round the bay at Marazion. Access via causeway at low tide and walk up to Castle and Gardens only suitable for the sure-footed. Cinema in Penzance and a newly refurbished Arty Cinema in an historic building in Newlyn. This one also has a great cafe/restaurant. Great shops, supermarkets, quirky colourful terraces, and beautiful regency buildings in the town.

Transport in and out by train was a little lengthy and tiring for us but nevertheless worth it. Days were wonderful walking around the town, older residential area, shops and fishing industry areas with their lovely old cottages, Evenings were also easy and relaxing walking different streets to choose from the many eating places or in the kitchen cooking the fresh fish purchased earlier in the day. Slightly inconvenient if looking to eat out late lunch or dinner was early closing of many places at night or after lunch, Some did not do dinner at all. Also need to check and book for the handful of highly rated sophisticated places as many are simple and predictable but nice enough English pub food. In general I found Penzance slightly down at heel in patches but prefer this to overly tarted up and touristy.

Friendly proprietor and the more sociable atmosphere of breakfast in a guest house environment rather than a hotel - an excellent breakfast at that - freshly cooked to guests' 'specifications'. Convenient for buses and trains from Penzance to other Cornish destinations including outstanding views from the South West Coast Path tackled after a hearty breakfast and a packed lunch requested. Access to kitchen facilities are a bonus.

Absolutely charming barn conversion in a quiet leafy lane with private courtyard garden and parking spot. A short drive to New Lyn and Penzance for shops, the coast and restaurants and well placed to access all the top sightseeing spots in Cornwall. The accommodation is perfect for a couple and fitted out with everything you could possibly need for this type of self catering trip. Would highly recommend.

Really lovely hotel on a beautiful street right next to the stunning Morrab Gardens, and a nice small walk into town. Perfect for a few days stay. I hadn't been back to Penzance since I lived there 30 years ago so was very happy to have this as a base to go out exploring memory lanes.
