Everyone should visit Venice at least once in their lifetime. The city becomes even more appreciated with subsequent visits. For those who are familiar with it, Venice can be overwhelming, daunting, intimidating, mysterious, and beautiful all at once. It's a place that engages every sense of the human body, and it's an experience that will never be forgotten.

Venice is a beautiful place with lots of architectural buildings and churches that are amazing to see. The food is exceptional at most places. A little pricy for food but overall a great place to visit. People are helpful and stylish, but they don’t care what we wear, except if going into church, shoulders and knees need to be covered. Other than that an amazing place to visit.
If you are traveling with a lot of luggage pay for a private water taxi instead of the Vaporetto (city water bus”. Lots of people so save the aggravation.

A very romantic city, beautiful views along the way from a boat and any transport means by canals. It's easy to walk in the streets, Loved the classic concerts and museum of musical instruments. Quite crowded, also expensive compared to other cities of Italy.

Venice is just... Venice, nothing more needs to be said!
Venice is just... Venice, nothing more needs to be said! I mean there is more art there than you can possibly view unless you live there permanently. Tintoretto!!! It was my second visit (first visit 1982) but I worry about it. I worry about the water rising, I worry about the increasing floods of tourists... (yes, I was a tourist but...) I don't have any answers to the problems which are worldwide. People want to visit Venice, to have the experience of being there, but it contributes to the problem...
Recommendations: fav bar - Bar Nico on Dorsoduro. Don't go to Harry's Bar nr San Marco: it's a tiny room with no visible Hemingway artefacts, the drinks start at 20 Eu - staffed by chancers in bow-ties! There are too many good restaurants -- try them all is my advice! Fav island of course Burano. On San Michele, Ezra Pound's grave is a very small stone lying on its back almost under a bush (took us an hour to find!)

Beautiful architecture of the main attraction buildings.
Beautiful architecture of the main attraction buildings. San Marco square floods at high tide which may make it difficult to cross at times, though makes for beautiful reflection photos particularly at blue hour. Very busy with tourists in the middle of the day, even at sunset.
Getting in and out of the city requires a bit of planning. Would avoid large luggage if you can avoid it; if not taking private water taxi would be recommended so you can be dropped off close to your accommodation. Crossing the bridges (which all have stair steps) can be very difficult with luggage. If planning on getting a rental car, plan trip to Venice at the beginning or end so you don't need to park the car in the public lot.
Getting around Venice for a first time visit was much easier with google maps; GPS worked fine even though some reports had said it did not work in the city streets well.
Best place we stayed during our holidays in Northern Italy. The place is located 3 minutes away from the vaporetto without the need to cross any bridges (very comfortable if you have small kids in a stroller). Very spacious, bright rooms, two bathrooms. The host are connected to whatsapp and are very helpful providing your with tips how to eat well in Venice (anybody who has been there knows how extremely hard that is) and what to do not to get ripped off by tourist traps. Definitely recommend it.
Exceptional. This apartment and Anna were just top notch; everything was spotless, the building is gorgeous, the view - WOW. Not only did it have everything we needed and super spacious rooms, it was also full of style and charm which created an entire experience of Venice and beauty that I will not forget. Sebastian was super helpful with restaurant recommendations and any questions that arose. Truly the best apartment of our trip to Italy - it was heavenly.
Very friendly couple host. Nice and clean room, great shower. Best breakfast selection we had in Italy with meats and cheese, cereal, biscuits and fruit to hand. Gave us tips about travelling in Venice which was nice. Perfect location 1 min walk to tram stop and shops and restaurants close by. Tram takes you centre of Venice within 20 mins or so. Hosts let us keep our bags there after check out which was nice as we had a late evening flight.
I cannot even express how amazing this place is. Staff always greets with a big smile. They all know English very well. Always welcoming to answer any question. I love the room. Love the view uven on the back side. Beautiful place. The breakfast was the best out of the 5 places we stayed in Italy. The boat stop is 1 min walk from hotel. The rialto bridge 1 min walk. This is super central to everything. Best place in Venice
The hotel was beautiful with a great location. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We were surprised with a free upgrade to the Royal Suite. The room was simply amazing. The breakfast was also fantastic. They also set up a water taxi service to take us to the airport at check out. We would stay at the Dona' Palace over and over. It was the perfect place to end our 30th Anniversary celebration in Italy.
Location is everything in Venice. It is right on a canal for water taxi access, within easy walking distance to all the sites, beautiful views, and great restaurants. We loved it 10 years ago and it’s even better now, having been completely renovated. Very good breakfast. Best staff. Take a water taxi to/from the airport or train station; it might be the most wonderful thing you do in Italy — besides eating 😉.
Casa Pusterla was the best choice of our visit in Venice. the apartment is spacious and fully equipped with everything one may need. it is located a few steps from the Bianalle in the loveliest quiet neighbourhood. The hosts Flavia and Marco waited for us at the vaporeto station and provided all the necessary information. better than any 5 stars hotel (as far as we are concerned)
Accommodation in Venice is extremely expensive in general. I think that Hotel Rossi is the best place to choose if you are on a budget. It doesn't have to offer much(no view, it is a small room, a little bit old and the beds were cots, the bathroom was nothing special) but if you want to rent a rather cheap place to have a room to shower and sleep is the perfect choice.
The hotel is located in a great location; specifically, in the upper scaled shopping district with great restaurant options nearby. This was one of four hotels we stayed at in Italy and by far had the best breakfast and only hotel to have a gym and spa (although limited). The interior was very unique, but the room was large and had a canal outside the window.
Hotel Gardena was perfect for my husband and I on our babymoon to Venice. We loved the location- about 20 min walk to st marks square and in a quieter area that was so fun to walk around during the day and at night. Breakfast was great, the room was charming. This was a real highlight of our trip through Italy and definately somewhere we would come back to.
- AMAZING everything was perfect
- we actually got upgraded to the sister hotel “Al Cadega” and it was perfect
- the breakfast was incredible - one of the best ever
- lovely quiet location (Serenissima is right around the corner)
- walking distance to all major sights
- helpful and friendly staff
- the most comfy beach and a large room for Venice
I loved everything about the hotel. Nice staff, super clean, comfortable bed. Location is good. Comparing with a 4☆ hotel where I stayed in Milano, this was luxury level.
The breakfast is typical for Italy, very simple - like croissants, boiled eggs, a coffee, sweets, and juice & tea, some fruits. Not suitable for vegans.
Roberto is the best host I have met during my trip to Italy. Kind, helpful and cordial. His BB is located right next to the beautiful parks and Giardini, in a calm and quiet part of Venice. There is a nice local bar next to the house where you can chat with local people in the evenings. I will be back!
The place is one of the best boutique hotels I have seen. Decoration was impecable, location out of the crowded area. Caterina and Roberto were amazing helping with everything. I have been several times in Venice and this is one of those lovely places that make you fall in love with the city.
Location is excellent, just a few minutes from Rialto. Communication with a host was very efficient, he gave good tips on Venice. The apartment is clean, has wonderful rooftop view, lots of daylight in the rooms, good beds. We travelled around Italy and this was the best apartment we had.
amazing staff, delicious breakfast, great value for money, nice neighborhood away from the crowds of venice. very traditional feel with lots of personal touches from the staff, who are so warm and welcoming. best hospitality of anywhere i've stayed in italy :)
Fantastic location in Venice, my favourite hotel out of our 2 weeks in italy. Really big space with perfect air con. Loved the location for exploring Venice.
Staff were very friendly and thought the price was super for a touristy spot in August. Fab!
The directions to the hotel were detailed enough that I actually got to the hotel...a definite achievement in Venice1 The breakfast was the best I've encountered in my two months of travel through Italy.
Very close to train station. Good location to start for journey to most of Venice. Really close to all the nice bars and restaurants. Best air-con we’ve had in Italy which was needed as it was high 30s
