Very nice hotel and location, the quality of our stay/price ratio is honestly hard to beat. The rooms are a little bit tiny, but honestly not a problem at all because everything is very cozy. The staff is very very nice and helpful. The bed was also one of the comfiest we had during our trip!

It is conveniently located right next to Kyoto Station, you can even see it from the train! We loved the dinosaur receptionists, they were definitely a highlight and a delight to return to every day. The beds were large and comfortable, and we liked the divider that can be pulled down for privacy between the main room and the bathroom area. The foot massager was very fun! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they were able to keep our luggage before our check-in, despite the luggage lockers at the front being full! It was very convenient.

The rooms are very good, everything was clean and towels changed everyday. Breakfast was great and to mention the free sake on the bar - amazing! The best is the staff. Awesome people with great manager. We stayed at the bar talking to the staff for ours drinking cocktails and sake. Most amazing hotel staff I ever talk to in my life. The location is also great with bus stops and subway station nearby. Kyoto tower is 10 min. away walking.
I strongly recommend Imu hotel in Kyoto! Thanks guys, I hope we will be back there soon!

The staff were very helpful during check-in and when arranging for luggage forwarding to our next hotel. We liked the location inside the Teramachi covered market, it was always easy to find a good restaurant. It was also convenient to several bus stops and subway lines for reaching all the major sights. The soundproofing is quite good; with the window shut, I couldn't hear any noise from the market outside, and slept very well. (However, one night I could hear another guest using the TV in the next room.) Although the room was small, as expected, the lounge space on the second floor was really wonderful. It was a good place to work with our laptops and enjoy free coffee and soda.
Right across the street from Kyoto Station, Hotel New Hankyu features 5 restaurants, a tour desk and a 24-hour front desk. Free WiFi is available throughout the entire property.

The location! It is literally right in front of Kyoto Station. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is well maintained and clean. Our room was cleaned everyday which is honestly a blessing after a long exhausting day of exploring. You also have an option to have an eco clean instead or choose not to have your room clean if you prefered. We booked the adjoining room for the 4 of us - couple with a toddler and a female adult, there was definitely enough space for all of us plus our 4 luggages. Happy to stay here again!

Most of the shrines, temples and other touristic spots are withing an hour travel by bus and several of them are just within 30 minutes walking from the Kyoto station. It can be a bit confusing at first due to the lack of "proper" sidewalks on some not so main streets, but if you follow the locals, it is a no brainer. On the main touristic attractions, in spite of the huge crowds on the entrances during peak hours, everyone follows the line and the flow of people is smooth and fast, never had to wait more than a few minutes to buy a ticket or enter someplace. Be careful as many touristic buses tend to arrive in huge numbers, and schools tend to organize trips on mondays, so you might coincide with local students.

Kyoto is a beautiful, traditional town.
Kyoto is a beautiful, traditional town. There are so many iconic spots to visit but unfortunately the numbers of tourists are maybe getting a little out of hand. We like to travel independently so we had a chance to see how many tourists on bus tours just seemed not to respect and value what was on offer in Kyoto. I would absolutely recommend a visit to Kyoto, see the iconic temples and gardens and absolutely partake in a Tea Ceremony but perhaps choose a quieter time to travel so that you can really appreciate Kyoto's value.

Kyoto is the previous capital of Japan, so it has numerous historical places to visit. The mixture of tradition and modern technology makes the trip even more interesting. English is used in many public places like trains, buses, street signs, etc. Therefore, you would not come into challenges because of the language. Kyoto is a touristic place, and there are many attractions which you could easily find through internet and google maps. Night life of Kyoto is amazing. You can find many restaurants and clubs to go during the night. A host of temples and shrines exist in Kyoto. Fushimi Inari was amazing. Bamboo forest was very good, but do not spend all of a morning/afternoon there. I liked the market of Kyoto as well. I found the prices lower than Osaka and Tokyo. As I mentioned, I also visited Osaka, Nara, and Tokyo, but I found Kyoto more interesting than these cities. Kyoto has its own traditional structure rather than these modern cities.

Beautiful city that allows you to explore and learn about Japan's history and culture. The pace of life is slower than Tokyo and the people are more open for a conversation. It seems that Kyoto is facing challenges in accommodating the significant influx number of tourists, as it was very difficult for us to find available restaurant for dinner. Most are either reserved out or have long waiting line every single night.

Kyoto is so crowded !
Kyoto is so crowded ! Unfortunately it lost the charm I’m assuming it used to have because you are swimming through CROWDS of bodies (like at Disney World) I would go back to Japan in a heartbeat but probably not to Kyoto. There are so many other stunning places in Japan that haven’t been ruined by tourism yet. Japan is an incredible country…..probably one of my favorites in the whole world. It’s just Kyoto that is too crazy
The room was very cute and comfortable. I do like that the light function controls are right next to the bed, so it was very convenient. The light behind the bed screen was the best. I loved the dimming functions and it looked very cool. Also, the window shades were amazing strong. No light seeped through, so we slept comfortably in the morning. The train station was about 2 minutes away from the hotel. The staff was the best, the girls who assisted us were extremely helpful and friendly.
The location is the best. You can easily go to enywhere in Kyoto by taking the subway close to the hotel and just 2 stops from Kyoto station.
You can walk to Kamo river to take a deep breath and walk a little bit to gion area. No worry about the food, there're a ton of groceries and restaurants around the hotel and the Nishiki market is just 3 minutes walking from the hotel. The staffs are so great, they are helpful. I felt so comfortable here and need to stay 10 days more.
The hotel was located at the prime location within Kyoto’s Gion. The spaces were impeccably clean and our room was very comfortable. It was also nicely decorated, in Japanese style. The hotel has an onsen, which is quite a relaxing experience after a long day of walking and exploring Kyoto. However, the absolute best part about our stay was very attentive staff who put efforts to ensure our luggages reach us at our upcoming destination. We would love to stay here again.
Ostay Kyoto West Hotel apt is ideally located.10 minutes walking from Kyoto station. It is a cosy apartment with views of the Bullet Train tracks. The best thing is that it has a comfortable bed, washing machine, microwave, A/C, cooking facilities, and electronic lock.
The host allowed an extra hour to check out at no extra cost.
I highly recommend staying at this place when visiting Kyoto.
Room was great as it was just the right size for a couple and the best part was we had a washing machine. The room was somewhat traditional but a must during your stay to Japan. Beds a little hard. Bathroom a little small but fine for 3 nights. It was boutique style. Location was within walking distance to Gion district & Nishiki Markets. Right near subway station and plenty of eateries.
Perfect location - steps away from the train station (which is essential anywhere in Japan), located very closely to tons of action and restaurants, some of the most gorgeous showers I’ve ever seen, and extremely comfortable beds (felt like sleeping on a pillow). Very friendly staff too! Highly recommend - on par with The Thousand hotel in Kyoto (both are the best of the best).
This is, for sure, the best hotel that my husband and I have been in. The room was super big, cozy and clean, there were free amenities for costumers, it was super close to the subway station and the staff speaks English very well.
There are so many cool things inside the hotel that there was a day that we decided just to chill there.
The price is also excellent!
This is the best accommodation I've stayed in during my one-month travel journey. No doubt all Japanese hotels are exceptionally clean, but this one is more than clean; it feels brand new and fresh. The location is perfect, with the station within 100 meters. Facilities are great, Coffee library , Coin Laundry inside the hotel. Highly recommended
This was the best hotel I ever stayed at. The price was exceptionally low but this really has all the qualities of a 5 star hotel except for room size. Everything else is of the highest taste, comfortable, exceptional bathroom, cozy bed. The location is about 15 minutes from the historical old town. The staff was friendly. Didn't take breakfast.
Great hostel! I slept in the dormitory and it was comfortable. Generally nice and well kept facilities. Staff was super helpful with luggage forwarding to my next hotel. Location is good for those coming in and out of Tokyo station. It’s located super close to Kyoto Cycle, which was the BEST cycle tour ever!! Highly recommend both.
In Japan in 10 days I changed 5 cities and 4 hotels. This was the best! Amazing Onsen, breakfast is 5 star quality, I loved their toast with Salmon and eggs! Friendly staff, very supportive and kind, the best location, right next to the Kyoto Station, easy to move around. I would definitely come back here again and again
The hotel is quite new, amenities are awesome. Space is enough for 3 ppl with 2 fully opened suitcases.
The location is within adequate walking distance (~10 mins) from Kyoto station.
Staff are super friendly and are the best English speakers I've encountered in the 7-day trip.
Everything was amazing. The whole hotel looks new and clean. Breakfast had good choices and everything we tried were delicious. Staff can speak english. Bathroom was the best I have seen in a hotel. Strategic location since the subway station is literally just beside the hotel.
This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Japan fantastic price and the 2 double beds were so comfortable and the biggest room. The area is quiet so much better than Gion which is so touristy. We loved our stay in this hotel wish it was longer.
Nicest hotel we've ever stayed in and that's saying quite a lot. Exceptional service and best location in the city if you're exploring Kyoto. Directly in the train/bus station with over 50 restaurants plus a mall underneath with huge food court.
A great modern hotel with a hostel feel to it. Very clean and everything was new. Good location near the main station but on the much quieter side. Maybe one of the best showers I have had in a hotel. Free bike rental was a cherry on the top.
Fantastic hotel! 5 star service, it felt like a luxury accomodation. The best part was how well located it was - it was in the cutest neighborhood walking distance from alleyways and tourist sites. I would absolutely stay here again!
This place has the best pajamas! Not far from Nijo Station and a supermarket and 7/11 very handy to the hotel. Lovely staff happy to help with anything you need.
