The location was quite good overlooking a green area; the room itself was an adequate size. Breakfast was very nice but not worth £20 each in my view.

FAQs about hotels in Harrogate

Sophisticated Victorian Spa Town

The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.

The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.

One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.

Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

Harrogate is lovely and our only regrets were the food on offer in the hotel restaurant plus the attempt to rip me off when the bill came. And we would have liked a bit more time so as to visit Bettys tea shop

Harrogate is a very pretty town and makes a good base to explore the area. It has lots of good restaurants like Piccolino, The Tannin Level or Oliveta and many great cafés including the famous Betty's. There aren't many sights in the town but it's very pleasant just to walk around and enjoy the architecture and gardens. Harlow Carr RHS Gardens is worth a visit. Historic York is only a 35 minute train ride away and gorgeous Knaresborough only 15 minutes on the same route. Still, you'll need quite deep pockets as everything is at least as expensive as in London.

RHS Harlow Carr is my favourite place to visit and the purpose of my trip. I ate at the Old Swan Hotel where I stayed. Pretty easy to get around although there are a lot of one way streets and sometimes it is tricky to drive down some of them due to double parking on each side as the roads can be quite narrow. I would keep to the main roads next time.

Fantastic Boutique Hotel close to Harrogate City Centre (5 min Walk). Free on street parking via permit provided by the hosts, no problem getting a space. Superb nights sleep on a very comfortable bed, the room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Breakfast was a particular highlight with lots of choice, fresh produce and excellent quality for a good price Excellent communication from the hosts before during and after our stay- I'd highly recommend this for a stay- we will return. The room was superb. it had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were available instantly at any time. The proprietor went the extra few miles for me as I had a flat Tyre and he basically saved the day and made such an effort to help us out of a situation on a Sunday morning. But the hotel itself was clean, tidy and excellent to stay in. If we return to Harrogate we would be here again with out question.

Lovely hotel with a nice relaxed feel. Nice bar and breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. The staff at breakfast were happy and helpful. Car park felt secure. It was relatively easy to sort payment at reception. Location is excellent. Walking distance of everything you need in Harrogate and perfect for the conference centre. Room was comfy and quiet. Lovely and dark at night too. The black out curtains are great.

The hotel staff were friendly and did their best to accommodate an early check in for us, which we appreciated. We didn’t have breakfast included and paid for this on one of the days we stayed (£12.50 pp if booked the night before). The food on offer was plentiful and good. The hotel is 5-10 mins from the centre of Harrogate, which is convenient, but quite hilly for anyone with mobility issues.

Large hotel, needs a bit of TLC but room clean and comfortable. Staff pleasant but could be a little smarter. Ideal location for centre, good value for money. Can't comment on breakfast as we ate elsewhere. We only stayed one night and I'd certainly use again. Don't pay £12 to park in hotel, download the app for the car park a two minute walk away, only £5.65 for overnight.

Everything about the hotel was really good for me, the parking at the rear (£10 a day) is very good, the food both breakfast and dinner plus very good value for money, it’s location is right across from the exhibition centre and it’s central for most attractions in Harrogate plus the staff were ever so helpful and attentive it’s a 10 all round for me.
