FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Center, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Center, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sports, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognized (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodations all over this happening city.

Great shopping, good selection of museums and attractions. Nice to just walk around and transport easily accessible meaning it is also a great base to explore a bit further afield. (We popped to Sunderland to the glass museum and to Si King's takeaway!). Great restaurants and places to drink for all budget all around the city centre.

This was a very nice hotel in an excellent location in Newcastle Upon Tyne. We stayed for two nights - beginning and end of a bike trip. The first night the room was very hot and right next to the train tracks. They did have good soundproofing but it wasn't a great room. The second night we had a lovely view of the castle and could open the window to get some air. Both rooms had FABULOUS bathtubs that we enjoyed using. The staff was extremely helpful.

Ah sure, what a grand stay I had at the Grainger Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that made me feel right at home. The double room en-suite was spotless and cosy, with all the comforts a weary traveller could ask for. The location was spot-on, just a stone’s throw from the heart of the city, making it perfect for exploring the vibrant streets and local attractions. 🙂

It is a no -frills budget hotel with an excellent location in the city centre ,close to the Tyne bridge on one side and Newcastle castle on the other ,and about 500 metres from Central Station . It offers hot drinks and snacks though close to some good eating places .The en-suite room was clean , quiet and safe . Very good value for money .I'd definitely stay there again for my next trip to the city.

The Hotel is in a great location close to Newcastle City centre and right next to Jesmond Dene Valley and Nature Walks. The Hotel and the rooms are spotlessly clean and maintained to a very high standard. The restaurant, bar and patio/garden dining facilities were superb.
