Bathroom was very modern and clean. Bed was comfortable. Room service was good. Hotel is lovely. Staff went the extra mile and walked me to the bus station and carried my luggage after my taxi didn’t show up.

the husband & wife team proved to be a charming couple. Breakfast (cooked by the wife) was excellent the full Monty consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rashers of bacon, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tea & fruit juice as normal. My room was very clean and comfortable and the bed comfortable. I have no adverse comments to make and I would certainly recommend the hotel. The cost per room, the cleanliness, the food were all of a very high standard.
Overlooking the Severn Vale, Hatton Court Hotel features free Wi-Fi, a modern restaurant and spacious, elegant rooms. Just 10 minutes from Gloucester center, it provides free parking.

As a village, Birdlip has no other facilities; it isn’t a big place and it seems many villages in the Cotswolds don’t have so much as a corner shop. Birdlup is no exception. But that’s not what it’s about. The village is very conveniently placed for visiting many of the attractions in the Cotswolds; Gloucester is only a few minutes drive away, Cirencester is not far. There are numerous parks, beauty spots, and places to enjoy nature nearby ( driving distance). There are numerous National Trust sites within a 30 mile radius and transport links (Birdlip is just off the A417) are good. Warwickshire, Worcestershire, even the eastern borders of Wales aren’t too far away. Birdlip is a reasonably attractive village and there are some public footpaths leading out into the lovely Cotswolds countryside for those able and willing to do some walking. It is a hilly area though, so expect some exertion to be necessary.
At night, traffic in Birdlip seems to be pretty much non existent, and although the A417 is close by, traffic noise just drops off to the faintest of levels; we had our bedroom window wide open and barely heard it. For this reason alone, Birdlip is an excellent place to stay so that after a day of driving to various attractions, you get back to a peaceful evening and an undisturbed sleep.
It has one pub/hotel/restaurant, the Royal George Inn, which is friendly, relaxed, welcoming and comfortable.

Birdlip is a great place for walking.
Birdlip is a great place for walking. We did 2 long walks from the village, one which involved a lot of steep hills and the other through some beautiful meadows and valleys. The countryside is stunning and we only saw a couple of other people on our walks.

It was only about 10 minutes from M5. Small pretty village but not much else there. No good unless you come by car, plenty of free parking onsite of Royal George Hotel where we stayed. They do great, reasonably priced food.

We only stayed for four nights as we had trips planned in the wider area. It does however seem a good area for walkers with lots of walks nearby. Unfortunately we only did one due to having other commitments.

Decoration and update desperately required.
Decoration and update desperately required. But if this is not top of your requirements list but good food and a comfortable relaxing atmosphere are, Then the Royal George is the place for you. Not ideal for the those who are less able as even downstairs accommodation has potential difficulties. (access to showers and corridor steps)
Birdlip is at the heart of the Cotswolds and, as such, is popular with walkers, cyclists and those requiring a peaceful break. Dependent on the English weather the local environment is a delight both within it's own grounds and beyond. It is not a spa but an ideal base to spread out locally. (Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester, Stroud etc). We had a wedding reception which worked out brilliantly and I would recommend for that purpose.
Food portions were good. The staff were helpful. The room was big. The pub/hotel is an interesting architectural feature and stands well in the village. However it is next to the main road cutting through Birdlip. Birdlip is very handy for touring around the lower Cotswolds and walking the Cotswolds Way. There were lots of walkers staying at the hotel. Large free car park at the side and back. The view from the top floor bedroom window was rather nice.
Good location. Lovely woodland walk accessible from the hotel. Restaurant & bar with reasonable menu. Good breakfast, lots of choice. Large comfortable bed. Iron & ironing board & hairdryer provided. In general, staff were helpful & friendly. Can’t fault customer service for the way in which she managed our concerns in relation to our rooms.
The hotel itself has loads of character and gives you a warm and welcome reception, theres plenty of choice on the menu and you have the option of dining in the bar or in the restaurant at no extra cost. The location is also really good for "the cotswold way" as well as other well marked footpaths.
Room came equipped with a bath in the en-suite which was a lovely bonus to the shower. My partner and I enjoyed exploring the grounds of the hotel as well. Nice beer garden. Attractive architecture of the surroundings too.
Dinner and breakfast were equal to or perhaps better than the usual high standard that we expect from Greene King pubs and hotels. This hotel is an older, character building and provides a warm atmosphere.
Not much compared with other hotels we have stayed in. From arrival to be greeted in luke warm fashion by an obviously de-motivated staff member who was summoned to cover reception.
The staff were excellent as was the hotel itself.
Room furniture was a bit old and one hinge on the wardrobe came away but it served its purpose.
A nice comfortable stay.
Birdlip is acute town and part of walking the Cotswold Way if you are doing that. This was a charming hotel. We had a nice little patio off our room which was lovely.
