FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

Love the warm balmy atmosphere, the trade winds mean you never feel hot or sticky. And the water is so warm at the beach. Love the gardens everywhere and the lovely paved footpaths. The whole tourist area is kept very clean neat and beautiful. The food is fantastic. There is so much free entertainment too. Live bands and hula performances outdoors everywnere. Once you're there you don't have to spend much money at all and there is so much to do and see. You can get cheap food at the food courts plus ABC and Seven-11 stores. And The Bus is so cheap and the drivers are very helpful. Don't miss the fee Military Museum at Fort Derussy park. And the zoo is wonderful. Plus of course the two best attractions, Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Centre. And swimming at Waikiki beach in late afternoon and sunset is superb.

    Honolulu was pretty.

Honolulu was pretty. I was shocked at the graffiti I saw at Wai Kiki. That needs to be cleaned up and new walk ways put in. You hear of this beautiful breach your whole life and then you show up and there is graffiti. the people were nice and the beaches were great and on the north shore. Wai Kiki was nice but just busy and graffiti at some spots.

I come every year to Honolulu for an annual conference at one of the big hotels. Honolulu is ok I suppose but it is really just like any provincial US city with beaches! I hear that the other islands are more pleasant. Personally, I would never bring the family for a vacation in Honolulu itself.

The hotel is very peaceful and stylish and we had an amazing ocean and city view. Room was cleaned daily and the staff has been very attentive and helpful at all times. Breakfast was great and there were different options every day (ignore negative reviews about the lack of cheese and yogurt, because ofcourse that’s not something that Hawaiians eat). The location of the hotel is perfect as it’s one block away from Waikikii beach and next to all the good restaurants and convenience stores. We will definitely be coming back again.

The room is clean, the bed comfortable, water pressure was decent. But what really set this hotel apart in my mind, was the breakfast! A full American style breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, several waffle machines, with toppings! Really good coffee! Three different types of juices, yogurt, with fruit, bagels, you name it they had for breakfast! And plenty of it! In our 12 days on the Hawaiian islands where breakfast was offered as part of the accommodations this was hands-down the best! Bravo best western bravo!

Excellent airport location, room price included breakfast and shuttle to the airport. It was expensive in relation to NZ prices but was in the lower price bracket for hotels close to the Honolulu airport. You are able to use the No 20 airport bus which goes from Waikiki out to the airport. There is a bus stop adjacent to the hotel with light controlled pedestrian crossing. After checking in we went to Pearl Ridge shopping centre getting a bus outside the hotel there and back.

The staff was amazing! Beach chair rentals and beach towels were easy to check out and very convenient. We saw two adult and one young monk seals on the beach behind the hotel, just relaxing on the beach. The hotel was close to Waikiki (maybe 5 minute walk, if that) but not crowded and outside of the loud nightlife. Very close to the zoo, convenient parking if you rent a car. The views from the room were of the ocean AND the mountains. It exceeded ALL of our expectations.

Being in Waikiki, the location was fantastic. It's the main hub for tourists so there was plenty of nightlife and it was nearby several beaches (less than a 10min walk away). Groceries were also readily available nearby, although the prices in Hawaii are insane so we found that it was actually cheaper to eat out! The room was stocked with most kitchen amenities (dinnerware, oven/hob, microwave, fridge etc) and even had an ironing board.

They served us fresh pineapple juice upon arrival and the lobby is very nice. The free breakfast was also nice. Finally, they do have beach chairs and umbrellas that you can borrow, and the beach is just a few steps away. The location of this hotel is pretty good - it isn't beachfront, but it's pretty close and much cheaper than what is on the beach. Loved Maguro Spot - the poke place just kitty corner from the entrance.

Location can not be matched! We were from beach to the bath in a few minutes. The room was dated but exceptionally clean. Serviced everyday. Staff were phenomenal. We were locked out of our room having left a room key in there. Someone was up to open it for us within 5 mins. Merging the classic Waikiki experience, a no-compromise “on the beach” motif, this true gem of a hotel delivers time and time again. While it’s not the fanciest in Honolulu and while the checkin process can be done faster (granted, COVID takes its toll here), the whole package is always a slam dunk— if only for having breakfast 15 feet from the shoreline.
