I loved that this is a small locally run hotel. Interacting with them, you can tell they really want their guests to have a great experience at their hotel and in Cairns. They are and will continue to do their best for their customers. Thank you Paul, Peter, Preezy (sp?)! And especially big thanks to Big Ben for the casual conversations! I had a wonderful stay, especially with all the activities close by.

The reception were welcoming, efficient and friendly on both my stays. On my first stay, I booked a harbor facing room and by mistake, a city view room on my return stay. on 2nd check-in, I requested to change to harbor facing again and the receptionist searched and worked for over 5 minutes to arrange this, and succeeded. including upgrading me to the top floor, harbor facing. See pic from 8th floor and 12th floor. This is more than I could have expected and so appreciate the extra effort, you don't get at every hotel, the standard answer usually being "Sorry, we'd love to but the hotel is full". Thanks again for a wonderful experience in the fully modern hotel (e.g. including USB sockets if you don't have Australian plugs) etc...

We stayed over the Easter weekend & as we made a last minute booking the only availability was a Horizon club room with access to the Horizon lounge; a lovely large room with a balcony overlooking the Marina and the fabulous breakfast & evening canapés and drinks - we didn’t need to leave the hotel!

Cairns is lively and very touristy its ok Be prepared to be disappointed Mossman Gorge dont bother very controlled and you are not allowed to really walk they are not happy as it is through an indigenous community You are strongly encouraged to pay $15 to take a bus to the gorge In addition most of the areas visited are conveniently closed to the public for supposed your safety and repairs taking many months Examples Lake Placid Barron Gorge I grew up here came back to visit it is no longer free to walk around your own country The islands such as fitzroy not bad but again very crowded Its worth a look but be prepared to find it too crowded and commercial

Cairns is busy and has a lot going on. It possibly suits younger people more. If you’re after reef trips or island trips it’s perfect. If you want a less action packed pace you should probably head to Port Douglas.

Tours are great paranella park and kuranda are the 2 I recommend. There is plenty to do around cairns city. Muddies playground was just 5 minutes walk to the esplanade from where we stayed its more for younger children and there is a cafe next to it where you can order extra hot coffee. And the lagoon is great for those who love the water.

Apartment was spacious and clean with one of the best view. Restaurants was just outside the building. It was closer to shops, the esplanade lagoon and closer to almost everything. Rsl next to building and perfect for family with children. All I can say is we really enjoyed our stay. Tour booking centre was just next door, cairns shopping mall 5 minutes drive away.
