As the largest natural harbour in Europe you might imagine...

As the largest natural harbour in Europe you might imagine Poole to be a watery paradise - unfortunately it's very built up and you don't get a sense of the location from most of the town. However it's in easy reach (via the Sandbanks chain ferry) of the beautiful nature reserve of Studland bay, the Victorian resort of Swanage and the Dorset (jurassic) coastline stretching to the west. Not to mention Brownsea Island in the harbour. Sandbanks beach is clean and unspoilt with lifeguards on hand - and if you have the energy you can walk along the beach to Bournemouth. The New Forest is a stone's throw away and public transport via bus from Poole to the coast and inland is exceptionally good and easy to navigate.

LOTS OF PLACES TO EAT. A GOOD VARIETY OF BOAT TRIPS AVAILABLE. IT WAS INTERESTING TO WATCH ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SAILING AND MOTOR BOATS ON POOLE HARBOUR. EASY WALKING ALONG THE WATERFRONT. HISTORIC OLD TOWN.

The Quay was lovely with lots of individual character pubs.

The Quay was lovely with lots of individual character pubs. However, the road network, particularly in the vicinity of Poole Railway Station is an absolute shambles - and it's all new! Also, getting to Poole from M27/Southampton area is a disgrace. There is no outer ring-road for Bournemouth to take you round to Poole so you get stuck in the Ferndown area 'forever' The local council & Highways England need to get with this and sort it out.

We love Poole so can only be positive about it.

We love Poole so can only be positive about it. It’s a lovely place for walking or just strolling along the waterfront and flat everywhere. Plenty of good restaurants/cafes/pubs. A great place to explore the area, regular buses and of course lots of boat trips available too. We always have a meal in the Poole Arms - traditional pub with excellent food. We also discovered the Custom House on this visit and had a really lovely meal there. We found all staff anywhere we ate or drank to be very friendly and helpful.

    Poole has a great pier.

Poole has a great pier. When we arrived, which was a Thursday evening, we headed down to the pier and the place was buzzing with activity. Lots of restaurants and pubs. We took a harbor trip on a boat and really enjoyed that but most of the time we were with family and friends. Great town.

The only problem with Sandbanks is that it is a bit detached...

The only problem with Sandbanks is that it is a bit detached from both Poole town itself and Poole Quay. Luckily there are regular buses which pass the hotel, but the last one from Bournemouth is only at 19.10, so you can't come back very late from an evening meal there. There were not many places to eat nearby at a reasonable price, so we had to travel to eat.

The Atlantic Atic room was an excellent choice for our stay in Poole. The room and bathroom were spotless and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and efficient, always willing to help and providing little things that made the stay even better (they had Coca-Cola and water in the fridge), slippers, and toothbrushes ready for us in the room.We were also able to park outside during the weekend but they are also lets us park in they parking.I recommend this hotel for its quality, cleanliness, and excellent customer service.

Hotel is located in a very peaceful part of old Poole sufficiently far away from the more lively Poole Quay. We couldn't get our car into the small hotel car park as it was full but public parking is located nearby. We loved our room - good size and very stylishly decorated. Very helpful receptionist who also carried a suitcase to our room. Great outdoor seating area which gets the evening sun and was a lovely place to have an evening drink before dinner. Dinner was good but prices have risen since our last visit.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The view from our window across the harbour was great. Our room was comfortable and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night and the food was fine. Our waiter was friendly and the service was good. The hotel is on Poole Quay which is ideal and close to plenty of restaurants and pubs and is the starting point for the boats offering interesting cruises to holidaymakers.

There was a great variety and choice for breakfast and evening meal, good quality and quantity. Room was a nice size, comfortable with large shower. Location ideal, really nice walk around the lagoon in Poole Park 5 minutes from the hotel, centre of town 10 minutes walk and the Quay 15minutes away. Couldn't have been better.
