Hemel isn’t a nice as we thought it would be. Town centre very scruffy & full of takeaway shops & fast food outlets. Traffic was hideous with a very dodgy 6 mini roundabout - roundabout! The ambience was great, breakfast lovely, but the staff didn't know what a bloody Mary cocktail is at the bar. The cleaning of the rooms, was also not completely great, but staff were fantastic. The walk along the canal and the beautiful marina are a must and Sainsbury’s is a gem min walk down the road or canal path. The train station at Aspley is not brilliant would recommend booking g tickets online before stay as machines were broken and station is not manned. Staff catering for Christmas parties still took the time to cater for guests in the hotel for evening meals. Slight mix up on times they would not be serving meals, but still slotted us in, much appreciated. Dogs were welcome in the bar area which meant they could stay with us for every meal. Great that the station was literally across the road.
