It was a lovely couple of days.
It was a lovely couple of days. Lots to see and do within a short car ride. It was a shame that a wedding party arrived on our second night with happy but boisterous ladies. The staff were excellent, nice and very helpful. Breakfast was average and the evening meals were adequate, but the hotel was lovely as you would expect from a country manor house, very quirky too. The room and especially the bathroom are superb, very cleanly kept too, Would we go back ? I used Levens as a base and drove out each day to visit...
I used Levens as a base and drove out each day to visit other parts of the Lake District. It’s a good location to get out onto the road and drive to other places. There did seem to be a local bus service but I didn’t use this so I’m not sure how frequent the buses are. I’d suggest that you really do need a car if you’re staying here. The local area also seemed to have good options for things to do - eg Levens Hall. Levens is a small, pretty village. The Hare and Hounds has parking so it was easy to park next to where I was staying. The pub is a friendly place to spend time. I had Sunday dinner and breakfasts at the pub - the food is of a high quality and you can tell that great care is taken in preparing and presenting it.
