Thank you for supper, the chef kindly put up a meal despite my late arrival, due to not spotting any signs of the main road.
See the Red Squirrels in the morning was a bonus, my parents had been to the hotel on a coash trip and had remarked about the red squirels.

The hotel is located alongside the Rive Kent and has the most lovely vibe because of it, even when overcast, rainy and cold. The Reception, breakfast and property staff were helpful, professional, accommodating and excellent to deal with. My room was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean, well appointed and the heated towel rack is wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the bedding is very clean and of a good quality. The breakfast is a highlight ( the Chef made me porridge, no sugar, no cream, just plain hot porridge ) it's possibly the best breakfast overall at a hotel I've had in quite a while. Being in easy walking distance to Kendal high street, associated shopping and eateries, pubs, cafes, local transport, The Riverside makes for an ideal landing pad for visitors and business people alike. I'd love to return for another stay and spend more time in the district exploring the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, villages and towns. Worth noting: the local food, bakery and coffee adds to the daily charm of Kendal.

The location is very suitable for driving and is just next to the main road leading to Kendal. The hotel is situated next to a farm shop and surrounded by green pastures. The staff are very friendly, and pets are welcome. The restaurant is amazing, and source local produce for the food and beverages.

A perfect spot to enjoy the Lakes whilst only minutes from the M6. Quiet location and I had views into the countryside.
Lovely fresh breakfast and perfect leaf tea.
The hosts couldn’t have been better and went out of their way to help me.

I travel up and down the M6 to/from Hereford to Oban fairly regularly. It’s a long an arduous journey particularly in the winter. Westmorland is a godsend of a hotel almost exactly half way and is an oasis of comfort and warmth literally at the side of the motorway. I love the convenience, the comfort, the friendliness and the fact you feel you are on the moors and a million miles from a motorway. You could not wish for a better night stop to recharge your batteries. Be sure to ask about the secret road between north and south services especially for hotel customers- so you can easily access the hotel when travelling south (because hotel is on M6 North)

Tebay services…. what a fabulous cocooning experience!
Tebay services…. what a fabulous cocooning experience! I came off the M6 on a wild wet dark evening and stepped into simple luxury and contemporary cosiness - I left the next morning early, completely restored.
I was journeying from the borders of scotland to the south coast and realised I’d run out of energy for the drive- an unplanned stop- but having experienced sitting by the open fire with my book after a delicious simple supper, slept in a divine comfortable bed, a nice hot bath -a delicious breakfast - i’ll make the time to stop here EVERY time i pass from now - special thanks for the gluten free and vegan options tebay!

There was a well stocked farm shop within walking distance, a great pub which was reasonably priced with a good menu. The food was delicious, it had an outdoor beer garden and lit up seating area, a play park for the kids, it played great music and had a good atmosphere, everyone was so friendly.
Tebay has many local walks, it is in the perfect location, in between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

Central location, ideal for exploring the area.
Central location, ideal for exploring the area. Hotel very good. Service top class. Plenty of breakfast options. Can eat at service station at any time. Good variety to choose from. Recommend the farm shop. Food any local crafts available.
We were only there overnight but had a really warm welcome in the evening (even though it was late!) and at breakfast. The room was really nice and clean with super comfortable beds and en-suite. It was dark and quiet so we slept really well and came down to a delicious breakfast. The house backs on to open moorland which was perfect for a dog walk before we left. It was raining in the morning so there was a log burning stove at the entrance to warm you if you got wet.
Fantastic value for money. Great breakfast and very helpful and friendly hosts. Brought our 4 month old puppy and the location for her was excellent. Children's park opposite the hotel was great for our 8 year old son. Location is good for the Yorkshire dales or the Lake District but expect to drive. Rooms are a very generous size, and facilities are excellent. We will definitely book this place up again when we visit the Lake District in the future!
Everything, it was absolutely lovely, tucked away in the village of tebay, made very very welcome, fabulous owners, made us completely at home, the room was perfect for us and the dogs, clean bed hot shower, beautiful food homecooked. we will definitely go again. a secret jewel tucked away. PERFECT x
The Old School is a great B&B for stop-over on a long drive. Clean room, nothing fancy and great breakfast.
Cross Keys pub is a 5 minute walk so perfect for an evening meal. Fuel station in the village is great too, part of the Tebay Services family - diesel here a lot cheaper than at the motorway stop.
Great location, approx 5-10minutes from Tebay Services and the M6. Remote location with plenty of privacy. Loved the open plan living room and kitchen facilties. The design of the barn, the games room and sauna/steam room all very good features. The design / decor were impressive and well thought out.
The hotel was modern, attractively furnished, clean, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Good value for money. Superior to the five star hotel in St. Andrews I left the day before! I will go back next time I am travelling up to St Andrews.
The hotel is in an idyllic spot. The outlook from the restaurant is lovely with the pond & waterfall. Love the open fire in the reception area. Staff were very helpful & polite. Second time we’ve stayed, so know what to expect. Never disappoints.
The Westmorland Hotel could not be more conveniently located for those travelling on the M6, given that it is adjacent to the Tebay Services. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We also had dinner at the hotel, which we enjoyed very much.
The location was stunning with easy access to the motorway, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and high quality. Fantastically dog friendly hotel. Room and lounge furnishings were comfortable and stylish
Friendly host who was flexible about our arrival time and very helpful in advising us where to find a good-value evening meal in Tebay. He provided an excellent cooked breakfast the following morning. The room was clean and comfortable.
Really pleased with the hotel and how welcoming the staff were, and the food was lovely and the relaxing atmosphere, and also the dog park.loved the farm shop and would definitely be returning for another visit just for the steak
Great location for breaking a long journey, in beautiful countryside. Welcomes pets. Lovely breakfast . No evening meal, but the good pub nearby sorted that very well .
