Shops, food and sightseeing are highlights. Book everything before you go or you won’t get in particularly Ann Franks house etc. Make sure you do a canal trip and cheese tasting - highly recommended. Felt very safe despite the reputation Amsterdam has for relaxed laws and never felt uncomfortable. So much to see and do - it’s a lovely city. I was only in Amsterdam for 24 hours for a cultural event, but still found time to walk round the lovely Vondelpark, so close to the hotel. Driving from Airport to Hotel was unbelievably long due to local roads not being available to tourists in rental cars. It took over 2 hours to get the Radisson Blu from Airport due to idiotic elimination of the ability to travel by car in and around Amsterdam.
