This was my third time in The Hague. I’m not usually a big fan of large cities, but there’s something about The Hague that I really love. Its seaside atmosphere, excellent cycling infrastructure, beautiful architecture, and great museums make you want to come back — and that’s exactly what I keep doing. There are many museums and galleries to see and if your hotel is central they are all within walking distance. Lots of good restaurants and the city is clean and very pleasant to walk around. We took a chance going to the Hague for a week and it paid off handsomely. There is plentiful shopping, all the restaurants you could want and some excellent jazz bars in the centre. It has excellent transport links so you can be in fairytale Delft or Leiden or even the (enormous) beach within 30 minutes. I loved Den Haag.
I loved Den Haag. I chose to go there as I had never been there before and Amsterdam can have too many tourists in the summer. I took the tram to Scheveningen beach, train trips to places such as Leiden but most of all I enjoyed walking around Den Haag. It is a beautiful city and even in a heat wave it was pleasant to move around the city. While I did not rent a bike, it would be a safe city to travel by bike, with dedicated, wide bike lanes. Because of the rain, Cristina gave us two raincoats for free. The location is the best. The study and work space as well as the leisure area can be easily found and used for free. Because of this fabulous space and Cristina, we stayed in the Hague and of course this hotel one more night. Btw, I love the chess games.
