If you're a royal like myself, do it. I loved it. I could've spent more time looking at more but obviously it's still a working palace. It books out early so get in quick if you can. It's certainly not a tour to do on a whim.
Fantastic tour in the summer .Go early to see the changing of the Guard at 11 am .Lovely walk through St James ‘park .Gift shop at side of palace and across the road .Restaurants around it expensive go a few hundred metres away .
It is a nice place to visit the only it was a lot over crown which I found difficult to stop are read what was in the case and have a good look The other thing there is no toilet until the end of the tour so if you have young one or elderly people that might be a problem and I went with elderly Ladies as the step was a problem there was taken on an other route and we was told we could all come just 1 person and a carer which mean we was split up and we didn't see them until was came out for tea and cakes was not what we had plan for Ladies day out we did phone to see where they where they was on a total different part from us
Not as impressed with the Buck House Exhibition as I thought I would be... not really a lover of the monarchy so all the oppulance tended to wrangle with me. However the Indian dining room was absolutely brilliant
It's expensive for what it is, and expect not to be allowed to take any photos. Don't do the special exhibitions, especially not if they're charging extra for them. The gardens can be accessed but that's a separate ticket, so do them the same day if you're going to.
I paid a visit here when my brother in law was presented with a MBE by the queen, It was a memorable occasion, presented in the grand ballroom with the beef eaters entry, and then the Gurkas guards escorting in the queen, and "keeping an eye on her handbag". The horse guards (unmounted of course ) were in attendance all The way up the stairs to the grand ballroom in all their pristine full uniform and white cloves and upright swords standing to attention, said to my wife at the time you could not buy this wonderful display of tradition. (i hope they still do that) a wonderful display of ceremony).
The staff was great, very friendly and attentive. The room was chic yet comfortable and the amenities were good especially for my sensitive skin. The nightly water bottle delivery was a nice touch as well. You have to use your key card to access the hotel entrance and your specific floor, so the added security was a big plus. The hotel is in a great location as well - St. James tube stop is a short walk away, lots of cafes / restaurants nearby, and you can start your local tour with Buckingham Palace right down the street.
Location was perfect for doing the 'touristy' pieces of London - 15 minute walk to Buckingham Palace and Churchill War Museum, 5 minutes to fancy shopping, nice restaurants etc. Neighborhood is clearly very, very wealthy - think the nicest cars in the world parked on the streets! Hotel has a lovely bar (serves lattes in the morning!). We didn't have the opportunity to eat there. Our room was quite spacious, nicest sheets and pillows of any of our 4 hotels on our trip. Staff was very pleasant.
The location of this hotel was fantastic, It was very close to the Victoria train station , supermarket and many London attractions Buckingham Palace etc. The breakfast was not a hot English breakfast but was fully packed with toast, danish ham, etc. rolls and cheese ,fruit and a fantastic coffee machine. Plenty of choice to get you well started in the morning. The front desk girl that worked daytime(I forget her name) was exceptionally kind and very courteous and willing to help with many questions.
The staff was welcoming and the hotel was clean and in a quiet neighborhood. The bed was very comfortable and I got a good night sleep every night. Clean towels and sheets were replenished daily. From the hotel, one can walk to the Natural History Museum, the V&A Museum, and Hyde Park. I kept walking all the way to Buckingham Palace. They also allowed me to store my luggage after check-out, which is always appreciated, since my flight was in the evening.
This hotel is in a great location. Just a few steps from the end of the Mall leading to Buckingham Palace. A very safe area and easy to get to either using the underground, taxi or private hire car as we did from Heathrow. Our room was a little small and view was not good towards the back of the hotel, but the beds are very, very comfortable. The decor is very nice.
Perfect location for London. 150 feet train station and bus station. 15 min. Walk to Buckingham palace. 10 min walk to Big bus hop on hop off. Bed was so comfy, big surprised. Breakfast was more than enough for a half day of food resource. Restaurants, mini mart and bars near buy.
The location of this hotel was the best. We were able to do a short walk to see a play. We actually walked all over area to see many sites - Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace. Our room was larger than we expected. The staff was excellent, above and beyond!
Great location, walking distance from Buckingham Palace; the walk to Piccadilly Circus is about 20 mins and very scenic.
London has an enormous amount of green space. We were located in the Westminster district near Buckingham Palace and there was so much to enjoy just by walking through St. James Park. A stroll to the Thames brings you to the heart of the city. So much to see. An incredible city and the people are great. Don't miss Trafalgar Square.
