Here you get an incredible feeling as if you are plunging...
Here you get an incredible feeling as if you are plunging into the past, especially if you come alone, without a tour. Be sure to stand at the top of the fortress wall and admire the stunning view of Salisbury. Porton is very pleasant village and a decent overnight stay on the way from Salisbury to Bath in terms of value for money. T'was our occasional treat to have a picnic on 'The Rings ' 65ys ago . I am delighted that has not become too commercialised . Great place to be for Solstice / Equanox lines up with Stonehenge and close to Downton. Mill .Limited Parking. You can view a section of Old Sarum without paying but you can't take away from English Heritage site so I don't mind paying. There are various English heritage sites so depending on what you plan on seeing, check ahead and see if it would be cheaper for you to get an annual.pass with them. The apartment is clean comfortable and well appointed with the additional bonus of access to a shared garden which was perfect in the light summer evenings.
