Tower of London
The Tower of London has hosted feast and folly for centuries. Founded by William the Conqueror in 1066, every tower has its own (often bloody) history. Lady Jane Grey, Colonel Blood, Henry VIII and some of his tragic wives were among its famous residents. Search for their ghostly spectres that allegedly haunt the grounds, or play it safe by viewing the 23,000 Crown Jewels.

You can spend the whole day there.
You can spend the whole day there. There is a lot to see and a lot of history to experience. It is impressive. Tip: you don't need to spend 5 pounds on the audio guide. It doesn't work well and visiting the Tower without a guide is amazing as well

Good to get there early as so much to see and can easily spend a whole day there. If you're into the gory bits, I'd visit the exhibit on torture early as tends to be a queue; the same applies to the Crown jewels. Interesting history of animals being kept here before they moved to London Zoo - good exhibition on in 2023.

Book tickets in advance- saves time and you get a 30 min slot. You will need quite a bit of time, and if you can- def listen to the Yeoman guides. They know so much.
Mulled wine in the cafe is also very good!

The architecture and history there were amazing, but be prepared to walk a lot of hills and steps. We enjoyed seeing the crown jewels and were lucky there wasn't too much of a queue to get in to see them. We are older and a bit out of shape, so we found the steps and hills to be a little much for us so we did not see it all, but what we did see was very impressive.

This attraction was as historic and interesting than Westminster Abbey, as it was built around the same time. It is highly under rated - very interesting, from the inclusion of the original Roman wall around London to the tour by the Yoeman Warders to the hangings and executions outside on the hill. Essentially next to the Tower bridge (hence the bridge name), it's a must stop for all ages.

We only went to the Ceremony of the Keys on this trip, but that was very informative and something everyone should try and do at some stage in their lifetime. The guard we had on the evening of 14th December was fabulous and entertained us all with his vast knowledge and anecdotes.

Very slick registration with charming staff. Fabulous Executive room overlooking Tower Bridge, Tower of London and views of the Shard. Great restaurant with very patient Italian waiter. We were a group of 9 with 3 children and he was brilliant.
The location was perfect; being close to the tube and to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Amazing view from the room.

There is a mixture of cultures and civilizations with more than 2,000 years of history blended... from the ruins of the Rroman City Londinium, the impresive Tower of London and the modern buildings all together. The best of all are the museums, some are free to visit, like the British Museum with a perfect collection of objects of different times and civilizations.

The Tower of London is well kept - other than some short stretches of defensive wall almost all other ancient fortifications are obliterated.

In this area of London, almost every step you take along the Thames river gives you a feeling for Charles Dickens characters, but you must go by foot get around the back streets and explore. Despite the new high rise buildings there are still many old houses and warehouses that evoke a sense of history. Within a 20/30 minute walk, you can get to Tower bridge, St Paul's Cathedral the modern Tait gallery, the London eye and the houses of Parliament. You won't get bored.
