This exclusive 4-star hotel is in the City, London's historic financial centre. It has free WiFi and air-conditioned rooms in 4 different sizes. It was a real pleasure staying at this hotel. The location is amazing!
I easily could've spent more time here than the four hours I visited. I still hadn't seen quite everything! I enjoyed having lunch at the Armoury or Armourer's (or something like that). The selection of foods was excellent and prices were reasonable despite their having a captured market.
Get there early! There’s a small opening ceremony with the guards and Beefeaters when they open the doors to the Tower for the day. Head for the Crown Jewels first before the crowds, and definitely do the Yeoman’s Tour! A five minute walk nearby is St Dunstan in the East Church ruins-worth a visit. Also nearby is Sky Garden Observation Deck—free but tickets need to be reserved first online. Tip: start your day by having breakfast at Duck & Waffle nearby—watching the sun come up 40 stories up over London whilst eating breakfast is amazing along with views of the Tower of London, etc. We were able to be out by 8am and walk to the Tower then were literally first in line for the Tower of London’s 9 am opening!
The crown jewels display was interesting. The rest was mediocre. You need to really understand and appreciate the history of this place before coming - if you do, it is impressive in its history and significance in London culture.
Be sure to get here right at opening and go straight to the Jewels if you want to see them, because we breezed in and actually got to ride past them size several times because we were the first people. Only an hour later the line was hundreds of people long.
I wanted to see it as I was interested in the story of Lady Jane Grey. I later found out she is actually a 2nd cousin many times removed. I also learned Queen Catherine Howard is my 17 Great Aunt, so seeing the place where family members were executed and buried was somewhat intriguing and sobering.
Absolutely loved this. We paid for a 1/2 day tour with a Blue Badge guide to go over the Tower, which was perfect. She had us get there before the Tower opened, and the very first thing we went to see was the Crown Jewels. It's smart to get that one out of the way first thing because a couple hours later, the queue was incredibly long whereas we walked right in. The amount of history of this place is incredible, and if you do a little reading on William the Conqueror prior to going, you'll get a better understanding of why the Tower was built, the style of building, and its original purpose. For those counting their daily steps, trust me--you'll hit your goals! :)
Location is stunning and the area is very safe! There is a bar on the 7th floor with great views, but also access to great restaurants and bars close by. With the Tower of London and Tower Pier on your doorstep as well as Tower Bridge close by there is loads to do and it's easy to get around London with the tube station next door. Whilst rooms are small, they are well proportioned with space for a large, comfortable superking bed! The ipad control for the room is easy to use and there is a cool lighting colour scheme!
Location is absolutely superb. Mini apartment was lovely with a separate lounge. Views over The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the Roman Wall must be difficult to Match. The business development guy was extremely friendly and engaging difficult to fault. Will be first choice and bring staff and customers to share the great experience. Thank you
Central location, close to underground and buses. Short walk to Tower of London. Plenty of places to eat. Spacious apartment with everything you need. Very quiet and although you can hear some train noise it didn't bother us. Host great, easy to contact, plenty of information and when we had a problem with a door had it sorted immediately.
Spacious and well appointed double room, which, with the added leisure facilities including a large pool, made the price for the location, handy for Tower Bridge / The Tower of London, very good.
Amazing views of the river and the bridge. The room was perfect, very clean, so much space and had 3 balcony’s looking out to the river/tower of London/bridge. Staff were lovely as well
Located next to the Tower of London, short walk St Katherines Dock. Spa was amazing and the room really comfortable and clean. The concierge was very kind and helpful.
Good location for visiting Isle of Dogs/Canary Wharf to the east and Tower of London to the west. Good breakfast and parking facility.
There is a mixture of cultures and civilizations with more than 2,000 years of history blended... from the ruins of the Rroman City Londinium, the impresive Tower of London and the modern buildings all together. The best of all are the museums, some are free to visit, like the British Museum with a perfect collection of objects of different times and civilizations.
The Tower of London is well kept - other than some short stretches of defensive wall almost all other ancient fortifications are obliterated.
A walk around Westminster, taking in the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben etc.... then walk over Westminster bridge and stroll up the South Bank to Tower Bridge - nice walk, views and plenty of nice "traditional" pubs to take breaks in.....!!
The Great old buildings like Westminster, Tower and Tower Bridge, and the new ones like Shakespeare's Globe which was only built recently but it is the perfekt replica of the original Globe. London is a great city with a great history and historical places.
Invest in the Oyster card in case the kids get tired from all the walking. Also download the kids explorer kit (avail on London Tourism site) to keep them excited to visit sites such as the Tower of London and forget how far of a walk it can be.
In this area of London, almost every step you take along the Thames river gives you a feeling for Charles Dickens characters, but you must go by foot get around the back streets and explore. Despite the new high rise buildings there are still many old houses and warehouses that evoke a sense of history. Within a 20/30 minute walk, you can get to Tower bridge, St Paul's Cathedral the modern Tait gallery, the London eye and the houses of Parliament. You won't get bored.
