Be prepared to be jostled when walking. Very very crowded. Of course, it is stunning with all the bling of advertising and lights and sounds. It is definitely a different atmosphere from other big cities. It is fun, exciting and a good assault on all the senses.
Go at night and go see a comedy show after dinner. Also, beware of the costume characters, some will ask for $100 AFTER they take a family photo with you! Negotiation the tip up front if you really want that souvenir photo. I usually give them $5 or $10 depending on the costume and poses/more characters etc.
Women, do not use hight hills for long walks. Drink water or any liquid only if you need to, there is no places they will let you use the bathroom unless you buy something in ANY store. So be prepared for that.
It was beautiful with the lights and buildings but too many homeless people asking for money and many young people on drugs walking all over the place behaving obnoxiously also nude girls walking around which was pretty sad
Awesome...so many friendly people of diverse cultures Dominicans, Asians, Indiana (India), I loved the diverse cultures. What a melting pot of people all working hard to please the tourist visiting New York.
Avoid it if you can. First time visitors want to go here, but it's super crowded and very annoying. People do not know how to cross the streets or even walk. This is coming from a New Yorker who now visits. Check out some other areas of the city.

The hostel was cheap and in a great location. We didn’t really interact with the staff as we didn’t need too so I can’t really comment on them; seemed fine when cheacking in. NYC is so full on you only really need a place to rest your head and that’s why we booked here. Good location for downtown and Brooklyn; we did walk to Times Square as well but be prepared for a big walk if you want to do that! I was expecting communal showers and there were three showers per floor which was good and you are allowed to use any showers.

The bathroom was amazing, clean, new, great lighting. And there was actually enough room to move around in the shower which isn’t common for a lot of nyc hotels! I had a double room with a view and we didn’t feel too cramped compared to other nyc hotels and had the best view of the Empire State Building! We’ve been to New York a lot and hesitated staying so close to Times Square, but it was on a quiet street and close to all the subways!

We could not have been happier with our stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and, while they were small which is typical of New York hotels any way, they were perfectly set up so that everything had a place without making the room feel crowded. The location was perfect and we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. I would highly recommend Pod Times Square to anyone traveling to the City.

The room was modern and clean. The linens are white, which I love and the rooms have laminate flooring, which I also love. Two things that I look for in a hotel room and it had it. We were on the 18th floor and other reviews said the elevator was slow, but we had no issue with that. Perfect location in Times Square!

Beds were fine. Location was very good to Times Square and restaurants. We saw a Broadway Play and it was perfect location. We did not spend much time there, but price was comparable to regular hotel rooms; and we had more space, kitchenette area, and a sofa bed for the same price!

The wait staff was lovely, the room was charming and very clean, and the location couldn't be beat. We walked to Times Square, NY Public Library, Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, & elsewhere. Plus the history of hotel itself made it even more special.

The hotel was truly wonderful! The people at the front desk were friendly and informative. When we had a problem with the heat in one of our rooms, it was fixed immediately. We would stay at Club Quarters Midtown - Times Square again and recommend it to others.

Nice hotel with convenient inexpensive parking. A short walk to Times Square. We had a Jr. Suite. The TV room was smaller than it looked online but it met our needs. The beds and sofa bed were comfy!

The hotel is close to Times Square which is nice but, it wasn’t within the police security area so staying here was useless on NYE.
Choose a substantial section of the city, say Lower Manhattan, plot the sights you wish to see on a map so that you do not have to retrace your steps, take public transit to your starting point and begin your exploration. We started at the 9/11 Memorial and worked our way north, including City Hall, the Merchant's House, Chinatown, the Bowery, Washington Square, the White Horse Tavern, the High Line and the Garment District. Of course, there were all kinds of surprises, which added to the experience. We began at 10 am and were back at our Times Square hotel by 4 pm.
The Broadway experience is such a classic part of going to New York. The standard of performance is so high, and the atmosphere as you spill out towards Times Square afterwards is unforgettable.
Well, They're iconic! Statue of Liberty, Empire State, Top of The Rock, Times Square are things you must visit who you're there!
There are so many historical sights and architecture to see and behold. You can walk the stretch of Broadway and Times Square and you'll see many attractions already.
Times Square is very busy as are most of the main tourist attractions, but the hop on hop off busses are great or if you don't mind walking choose another street other than broadway and it is far easier to walk down
Visit the city during the week. You could visit locations without being mobbed. Times Square on the weekend (first weekend in June) was a zoo - too crowded.
