I use a mobility scooter, and found it difficult to access some buses and some Tube stations, which meant that large taxis - with space to carry my scooter - were my only option to get to various locations. On buses I tried to board, with my family, I discovered a ridiculous situation where every person is required to pay with their own card. It was not possible for me to pay for my family visiting from Australia with my card. Logging the number of passengers by their card numbers alone is absurd and retrograde. This is obviously fine for TfL and the bus companies, as they now have access to a lot of passenger details through their accounts than they ever did when it was possible to by several tickets for a family from a conductor. I'm now disabled and retired, but in my employment days, I was a senior IT and data comms systems architect on several large, government, multi-million pound projects. I was on the NHS digital patient records project, and was involved, from the beginning, in what is now called GDPR. I have extremely serious concerns in the way TfL and/ or buses operating companies are liberally harvesting personal passenger details simply to pay a fare.

Hounslow is a thriving town very close to Heathrow airport and large businesses. We found the locals to be friendly and there was everything you would need to enhance your stay - pubs, cafés, shops, a large cinema etc. There were lots of families walking their children to school so we assume it's well-equipped from that point of view. It is very easy to navigate Hounslow on foot or by road. We hope to visit again and stay for longer next time

We had just one night- arrived in the morning (and were allowed to park and leave the car), nice lunch at the hotel and then the train (35 mins) into London for a few hours. The next day, we visited Hampton Court Palace (parked in the HCP car park up the road) and then drove home from there. It was a great way to do it.

I recently stayed at Heatherbank Guest House.

I recently stayed at Heatherbank Guest House. The location is relatively convenient for Stansted Airport – about an hour by car transfer – and the staff were friendly enough. As my room did not have a microwave, they kindly allowed me to use the kitchen one. The room and bathroom were clean, with fresh towels provided daily, which I appreciated. However, one major issue left me quite frustrated. On the morning of my departure, I had an early flight at 7 am and needed to wake up at 3 am. To my surprise, the electricity (or main lighting) in my room and bathroom was completely off. I had to shower using my phone’s flashlight. Thankfully, I had finished packing the night before, as doing so in pitch darkness would have been impossible. I checked, and it wasn’t just my room – the small room between my entrance and the main hallway also had no power. Only the main hallway lights were on, which was a relief, as otherwise carrying two heavy suitcases downstairs would have been extremely unsafe. This situation made me think: what if a guest were ill and needed the bathroom at night, a breastfeeding mother needing light, or someone returning late in the evening? I had noticed the generator (or main power) going on and off during the two previous nights as well, with a short power surge to the mini fridge, which was quite noisy. This is an important matter that should be communicated to guests and fixed promptly. While the cleanliness and some of the staff’s helpfulness were positives, this power outage experience left me feeling stressed and disappointed.
