Host Dennis is very helpful (he took us in his own car to the scooter rental company on our first day), room is clean and has a nicely decorated attached bathroom and the terrace on the small river at the back of the house is very nice to sit and drink a cup of coffee from the shared kitchen. We recommend this place!”

  Lovely room with roll top bath in room and very nice large modern shower room. Excellent comfy bed with quality bedding. Great nights sleep. Went into the pub for an early drink when we arrived, excellent service from Kieran behind bar. Staff happy for us to pinch a reserved table in front of open fire while we had our drinks. So many places are uptight about this but not The Stump. Interior was a lot less commercial than I expected which was great, very rustic but smart. Dinner was lovely with great pizzas, sides and service from a lovely girl. Breakfast had great quality, plentiful ingredients on full English and really nicely cooked, though we did comment that it would have been nice to have some toast while we waited or possibly a continental table to serve yourself. No fruit, cereal or pastries offered, though there was a house granola on menu amongst cooked items. This was the only slight negative but didn’t detract from our stay.

  A return visit for our 25th wedding anniversary. We love the castle, what a fantastic setting. The room is beautiful and the most comfortable bed and pillows. We had afternoon tea and it was really nice with a good variety of cakes and very tasty scone. Staff are friendly especially in the dining room. Food is delicious.

  Was disappointed with no response from the hotel when we emailed with dinner reservations. I had to re email before we got a reply. My sister was really upset because she wanted to order wine and chocolates for us on our room as a surprise but again she had no email response so couldn't!!!

  Friendliness of the host and willingness to assist in anyway. The hosts knowledge of the area was extremely useful. The ability to gain reductions in entrance fees was a great bonus.

  The property itself is great. Considering the London prices and all, it is really good. The apartment is really spacious and in a great location.

  Oh...the app and the "Unlocking" door. There was always a problem with the door and lock on the app. I must say, my colleague didn't have any problems. For me, sometimes worked, sometimes not...maybe it was me, I don't know...but I'm sure more people had a problem with the NFC/Bluetooth "lock". They should get rid of that crap and provide proper key/s. You know, the little lock, with code, that gives you the key. Remove this wireless lock, please. I would return here on my next trip to London, but I'm afraid because of that lock and calls to my friend at 5 AM.

  We were rushed through dinner. We also were never asked how we wanted our steaks cooked and they were overcooked which was a shame because it would’ve been a delicious dish.

  Apartment for 4 but only 3 lounge seats, one of which was broken. Not enough glasses and general cooking utensils such as large wooden spoon, cheese grater, tin opener etc. Badly chipped mug. One bed had most of its base slats broken. Leak in bathroom causing stain on hall wall. General skirting board finish was of poor quality especially as the flat was relatively new.
