The location was fabulous; overlooking the North face of Ben Nevis. We were fortunate with the weather; it was in the low 20's whilst we were visiting. The view was picturesque. Access to the property was straightforward. It was independent of any staff, so unable to rate staff as part of this review. The property was as stated. Nicely decorated hallway led us to our room, which was delightful. We did not use the bath as we only stayed one night. Could easily stay for a week as plenty of hikes to do. Porridge was supplied which was a nice touch. A table and bench chairs with a sun umbrella was allocated to our room outside, where we could sit and take in the views of Ben Nevis.

The room was too hot and we could not locate any way to control the temperature. The heater in the room was off and it appeared that there was no aircon. We opened the window when in the room.

Location for Leith is great - and actually I walked into the city centre (took about 35mins), and it was a nice walk in the sunshine. Quiet street. Great views from the front of the hotel. This hotel is very basic, clean, efficient to check in. It’s a bit outdated, but the shower looked much newer. Had everything I needed for a nights stay at a good price in this area. Nice places to eat a short walk away.

The room was very hot. It was a very sunny day and my room got the afternoon sun. The curtains were shut to keep it cooler when I arrived, but still super hot overnight.

The location of the Property is excellent. You have the Tube stations less than 2 mins walk which gives you access to London and the wider area like Heathrow. Rooms were really nice, staff were amazing there. You can see they take pride in their work. Maria the host during the Breakfast service was lovely.

One thing which I didn’t like was when I was checking out and I saw they had added a discretionary charge for cleaning of your room which was £25 per day. I was a little vexed about this. I questioned what it was and was told it’s to help the staff out. I said a room at £425+ a night there should be more than enough room to pay staff accordingly and shouldn’t again be passed onto guests. I felt I had paid enough for my four nights which was in excess of £2000. I asked for the charge to be removed as I didn’t agree with it. Having your room cleaned is part of the Hotel experience.

As it was their first week of the season all the staff were very help and attentive. The room was ideal and the breakfast delicious. I would always recommend the Dolphin as a great place to stay.
