The location couldn’t have been better, backIng straight onto Victoria station. The rooms are beautifully refurbished and they even provided goodies each day in the fridge included in the cost. Check-in was exceptionally easy as was checkout. Would definitely stay here again.

Having two separate wings and having to swap between lifts was a little bit annoying, but once you got used to it, no problem. Everything else was fabulous.

The view from the lovely dining room - spectacular! Warm and very comfortable. Wonderful friendly reception for my little dog. Wonderful old Victorian building inside and out.

The breakfast was mediocre. Just cereal and unhealthy fried stuff which was not for me. As for the quality of the fried stuff: Wetherspoons do far better!

My stay was completely ruined. I am disabled and had said this when I booked to stay here that I would need a bottom bunk as I physically cannot get up to top bunk unaided. Hostel said they could accommodate this. Upon arrival I was given the top bunk I went back to reception to query this but said nothing they can do. I asked for a refund as I couldn’t stay there and the guy said no because my booking it’s non refundable even though I wouldn’t be staying there and that I would have to complain to the manager - by this point receptionist was starting to get rude with me. I wanted to stay elsewhere but due to it being a Saturday prices were high and I could have been in the same situation with another hostel so I had no other choice but to stay. The lockers under the bed slide out so I used that to get up to top/down bunk, I have a prolapsed disc so tried my best to make it as minimal as possible when I needed to get down. The place with filthy, there was no hand soap in the bathroom during my entire stay even though I mentioned this at reception. Was in the bathroom when the cleaner came in and thought she’d of put soap in but no all she did was a very quick wipe and flashed the toilets. I used to be a cleaner so wherever I go I always strip the beds to help the cleaners out but found the duvet to be covered in some questionable marks and the pillows were yellow (see photos) I understand it’s a hostel but those should of been binned, completely unhygienic. I have stayed in several st.Christopher’s and I’ve never had an issue (if you’re going to Edinburgh I highly suggest the st.Christopher’s there) had a voucher for booking.com so picked here given the positive experience I’ve had with other st.Christopher’s. Overall wasn’t worth not being able to walk for several days after being there.
