It's a great location. Not being familiar with London I made a great choice choosing Widegate Residential. Lots of pubs and restaurants within steps of the front door. It was great. The staff were very obliging and addressed the couple of concerns we had without hesitation. We were on the second floor and it was quite the maze the first couple of times to find our room, but after that it was a breeze. They cleaned the room daily, which was a surprise to us.

My biggest complaint has to be the stairway. It was narrow and quite difficult to maneuver, especially with our large suitcases. The front desk staff helped us on our arrival up the stairs...but we left early in the morning and had to maneuver our way down ourselves(the gentleman at the front desk said he would help us, but I'm not sure they were even in when we left.)

There was no breakfast, we had to get our own, but the Clipper Cafe in Shaldon is excellent and right beside the river. The property was very well provisioned in terms of equipment - all one could wish for if staying for longer, but we were only staying for one night. It was very clean and comfortable.

The location was not good for us as it was a long walk from the centre of Shaldon and the ferry across the River Teign which we had to catch as we were walking the South West Coast Path. Having walked a long way with numerous steep ascents and descents the long walk on the road to the property was not welcome.

A member of staff who organised the parking when we got there, a porter to take our bags up to our room, was really appreciated, as several flights of steep stairs, A lovely breakfast , and dinner both days. All made for a perfect stay. in a lovely Inn with lots of history in the centre of Rye.

The room was lovely and the bar downstairs was very classy.

Paying for parking in a public carpark. The hotel should sort an arrangement out with the council to include the cost of parking. Maybe display a badge to say you are staying there for the car park attendant to see.
