The welcome from the team was superb, the room was beautifully decorated and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. The pub itself was really friendly and welcoming and had a great atmosphere.

Strangely, just the chair that had been left outside the window and the bathroom door needed a clean.

The breakfasts were disgraceful. Insufficient staff, those that were on duty seemed clueless and lacking any direction. We were among several who having been given a time slot (honest….in this day and age) appeared on time and despite the sign saying ‘wait to be seated’ we’re told to just go in and sit anywhere. Now, this was tricky as not one of the unoccupied tables had been cleared. We did what several others did and cleared our table and put the used dishes etc on another table. In 10 minutes it was full. They ran out of fruit, bread ( no toast then…) and after joining a similarly annoyed group searching for a member of staff, eventually got one - but not much joy. We had to ask 3 times for tea and coffee which arrived 20 minutes later. The waitresses arrived at last carrying two plates but couldn’t remember who they were for. So with commendable aplomb a chap shouted here’ and got his full Scottish breakfast I could go on and on, the second day was better, but again they ran out of some items - there is no way this hotel should have 4 stars, this performance would at mist have merited 1. The pity is that I really wanted to like this place, but oh dear!

Absolutly everything about this place is just perfect!

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable

Double room - picture was misleading, I chose this hotel because they have a bath & shower instead of just shower room but the bath tub is half size not full size. Also the room is quite small. Steps - I was put in room 216a in level 2, there's a lift but to get to this room I still have to climb up a few steps, with a huge luggage and bags, this is very inconvenient Coffee & tea - no coffee or tea or even kettle provided in the room. Ironing - I requested ironing facilities when I checked in, I was provided with very old ironing board that's already yellowish and stained with quite an old iron as well. For the price, no value for money. I could have paid less for a better hotel.

The staff was really nice and helpful.

It looks like it hasn’t changed since the 70s. Could use a bit of renovation work, especially in the bathroom.

own bed with curtains, good idea

Drawers are so loud and wake up anyone if you just unlock it. The only place to chill was a room with a very loud TV on all the time. Other spaces were like High school cafeteria, and SO loud when it was full. bathroom was somehow always wet on the floor.

No shampoo left in shower and toilet roll was very low quality. There was also sellotape stuck to the wall and stains on some of the furniture
