The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly - including the cleaning staff, the receptionists, the bar staff, the restaurant staff and the chef who chatted to us too. The location of the hotel was excellent and very central with easy access to bus stops. The rooms we stayed in were lovely and situated on the second floor of the main hotel building. There is no lift (being an historic building) so a member of staff kindly arranged for our luggage to be taken to our rooms.

Parking may be a problem, and there is a small free hotel car-park. There other car-parks a short walk from the hotel but these incur an overnight charge. We were advised by e-mail of the parking facilities before our stay. Once we arrived at the hotel we were able to park the car in the hotel car-park for our 5 night stay. We decided to leave the car parked and use the bus or reasonably priced taxi services to get to the various places that we wanted to visit during our stay. Therefore, it was not a problem for us but I can appreciate this may be a concern for other guests staying at the hotel.

The host was very friendly and there was always someone in the house if you needed help. The location is perfect as it’s very close to Wimbledon station and a few bus stops so transportation was never a problem. There is a fridge is the room and even though it’s a bit small it fits enough. There is also a supermarket really close by and generally you can find everything you can need in a close proximity to the property.

The shower and toilet space are rather small but not uncomfortable. There are times when you can feel like you don’t have enough privacy as the entrance to the room is near the entrance of the house so you can hear the hosts moving around and going in and out.

The beautiful location, the exceptional decor throughout the hotel, the clean, comfortable rooms and the gorgeous food on offer in the restaurant. Everything was done to a high standard and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Oh, and there is a free to use pool table for guests too - nice touch!

Our room seemed to be above the kitchen and was overly hot in the night, but we'd brought a fan with us so not too bad overall.

Everything was fine, just looked a little tired. Staff were helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for our needs and visiting Rye.

It all looked a bit tired. Room was very hot as we were effectively in the roof.

Perfect location with very friendly and efficient staff. All at a great price.

Lovely old building that could do with a little updating in places. However this is obviously reflected in the price of our stay. I assume the garden may get a little noisy at times but this wasn’t a problem.
