The room was very 'old worldy' and little dated but large and very comfortable. I had a family room high up in the rafters of the hotel but apart from the slightly narrow stairs iot was warm, comfortable and clean. The staff were AMAZING!! So friendly, helpful and patient. They were a credit to the hotel and made our stay very enjoyable. The lady at reception (I wish I had taken her name) was so lovely and friendly (I told her my name was George Clooney) and we had a good laugh while she was checking me in.

The shower was fine but had to mix the clod and hot taps to the right temp before jumping in - it was okay once on :-)

The food was amazing, every morning it looked the same and met our fussy requests. It was still hot and the lady who bought it up was always lovely. The bed was very spacious and super comfy.

To say it’s named as luxury, I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s luxury anymore. The walls all need painting. There are black marks in places where you wonder how it’s got there. The tall standing mirror is battered around all the corners. The milk was actually opened on arrival (we saw an unopened one just left on the side somewhere in the corridor) the tea wasn’t topped up and also someone had used the coffee pot and it still had coffee in it. The cups were chipped. On arrival there was laundry piled up taller than a 6ft man - I understand it must be hard walking up and down the stairs after every clean but there must be a better way of storing the dirty laundry. Only large towels, no hand towels.

Not clear on booking.com that cooked breakfast is £15pp extra. This information only comes from the Inn AFTER the booking is made. Very slow service at breakfast too
