Excellent choice of breakfast. Plenty of space to relax and meet people, especially on the delightful sun terrace. The delivery of luggage from the Quay on arrival and the reverse service on leaving is much appreciated.

We had a rather small room, short of hanging space. The wi-fi is not secure! A lot of steps - but that's expected in The Scillies! On arrival the location of Reception is not signed.

The hotel seems quite remote and in a good location. The mattress was reasonably comfortable.

Had a terrible sleep... First it was the really loud creaking any time our neighbours moved even a finger, then the bats screeching and scratching in the wall, and the final straw was the crying child... The driveway is absolutely undriveable, get ready to get your bones shaken out of your body. When we arrived the room was very cold, there were some electric heaters in the common room which we used, still unsure if they left it out for guests. We expected an old building, but in general both the room and the building was very run down, it felt like it wasn't taken care of properly. It wasn't unsafe, but some places the peeling paint or cracks didn't add positives to our stay. And last of all, the hallways smelled really bad of old food? Or mold? I am unsure but was hit in the face by the smell like a baseball bat.

Staff are a little straight forward, unwelcoming unfortunately I felt. It’s very much “hello, here, thank you, pay.” If you order something like a coffee, they won’t even bring it over to you. When I just arrived I didn’t realise there is no table service. So the coffee will literally just stay on the counter. No one to help with bags. Not really even a welcome. Fireplaces (gas) were not lit. Only one night of them were lit which was nice eventually. Rooms / beds don’t get neatened between nights.
