Room was fine although compact and a bit tired compared with Travelodge and Premier, with a small double bed ( not had less than a king size bed in a hotel room for many years!) Also old fashioned warm air heater which we switched on on arrival as it was getting cold. - I suppose it’s more cost effective than central heating. Room had everything we needed and was comfortable enough for one night but I’ve had better rooms for cheaper. However excellent power shower and a very good breakfast included in price made it better value.

The hotel was hard to find. The postcode in online address sent us to a nearby dead end! I had to phone the hotel for directions and was given a different postcode - this one should be online!! Small bed and hot air heater as mentioned above made room seem a bit tired and dated.

This is a really beautiful hotel and spa in sumptuous surroundings. The decor and furnishings are quite opulent. We really appreciated the view from the sauna! The staff were friendly and eager-to-please. Listening to the pianist in the lounge, was a pleasant addition to our evenings. The food was delicious and the flowers in the public spaces were quite splendid! The night manager, Oona, was very efficient in dealing with an issue that arose and most keen to solve the problem to ensure our comfort.

There were inconsistencies in replenishing the consumables in our room. However, this was very easily rectified.

The pub itself is a lovely old building. The accomodation is also in newer builds at the rear. We had a ground floor room next to the outside courtyard. The noise is to be expected, its a pub, but despite it being warm in our room we had to close the window because the smell from cigarette smoke was entering. The car park is tight to negotiate but free. The staff were really friendly and very helpful.

Better ventilation in the room.

A wonderful cabin in the middle of a beautiful wood, full of wildlife. Very spacious and well equipped. Large windows for a decent view and a nice decking area with seating which is also enclosed so is perfect for a dog! Enjoyed our stay here, perfect for a family that wants peace and quiet away from the rat race that is life!

Only one thing I can think of is the wifi. Very slow and wouldn't load google maps etc which is handy when we wanted to go out an explore! Other than that, nothing, I liked it all!!

The Wherry is a beautiful building, and with lovely views towards Oulton Broad and the mariner. Convenient for boat trips and close to a few cafes and bars.
Negative section of review
The interior of The Wherry is shabby. The floors were horribly sticky around the bar area, outside seating needs cushions as the seats are very uncomfortable, the choice of menu in the dining room was unimaginative, burgers fish and chips etc and the quality was poor. We ate in the dining room but had to buy the wine at the bar and bring it to the table ourselves. The Lift - ***this really is unsafe*** several times the call button didn't work - it shakes and makes extremely worrying grinding noises and rattles, a thorough overall or replacement has to be addressed.

Excellent breakfast choice. Spacious room and ensuite. Delightful location. Friendly people.

The mattress was too soft for my liking, but some would love it. Huge numbers of people around in the evening for the low season, you really need to book dinner at the local pubs, hotels and restaurants.

Lovely staff. Great breakfast. Lovely view of the park and the mountains in the background.

For the price, I wasnt expecting luxury, but this was ridiculous! The bath and sink were not cleaned properly. There were stained towels, and even what I assume to be pubic hair from the previous guest was stuck on the bathroom door! Parts of the bathroom walls were peeling/pulling off, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for god know how long. The sofa was a yellow sweaty mess that hadn't been cleaned in years. The tea tray was dirty, and the spoon even had a greasy fingerprint on it. The bedside light had an unsafe flickering connection, and there was an iron burn mark in the middle of the floor. All the walls were stained with condensation dribbles. Lastly, the bed was hard and the pillow felt like an overblown balloon! If it could've been helped, we wouldn't have stayed the first night at all! We didn't stay the second night though due to how dirty and uncomfortable the room was, and checked out early! Clearly the budget and care was put into the foyer and bar, and the upkeep of the rooms was put to the wayside. I didnt go to the spa area, but given how unclean our bathroom was, I dread to think what it would have been like! Oh and you have to pay an extra £5 per night to park your car there.
