Her recommendation really made a difference to our trip...we would have tried to lug our large suitcases from Nikko to Tokyo (thinking that it was only a train ride away) if not for her advice to pre-send them to our Tokyo hotel.       The room itself was really good, especially for the price. More recently renovated than the building itself, it was thermostat controlled (although incredibly noisy and if you open the dirty windows to the filthy, iinner courtyard, you get alot of city noise). The bed is large and the bedding is comfortable, Smart TV, good bathroom with rainhead shower and heated towel rail. If you want a 100%, self service inner city room with comfortable bed and hot shower, this is the hotel for you.

      Where were rhe staff? Where was the customer service? There is no WAY this meets the international criteria for a a 4 star hotel. The rooms are fine. 3+star, and the rate is inexpensive, but the overall hotel and service was <2 star. Bare minimum hotel signage. My taxi driver and I weren't sure we were in the right place. No one to greet me, check me in or answer queries at 6.30pm. They'd emailed self check in instructions with phone numbers about 12 hrs prior, but I'd just arrived on an interationsl flight and was still struggling to find a UK network, couldnt access the internet or phone a UK number.There was no lift, dragged 20+kg of luggage up 2 flights of dirty stairs, no one to check me out or assist me with a taxi at 8.30am next morning. I had to go to a hotel down tje road for customer service to find a taxi. Literally the strangest city hotel I've ever stayed at.

      Bedrooms need updating. Found a very dirty towel on the floor when I entered, looks like it was used to wipe around then just left, spider under it too.

      Very disappointing evening meal, main course not acceptable and not fitting for a hotel of this standard, however staff appreciated our concerns and agreed to not charge for this course. Unfortunately this did however spoil our stay.
