The weather was rainy and a bit chilly during my two-night stay, and I appreciated that it was always warm and dry when I returned to my comfy room. It just takes about 20 mins to walk to the old town and there is a bus stop opposite the guest house.

My room on the top floor feels a bit small with the slanting roof and with just one small window. Good enough for solo travellers though.

Hotel was central to get anywhere walking, Train or bus. There was a Folk Festival on which was a bonus and weather was good. Breakfast was included in the price. Full English, Cereals, yogurts, juice etc. Host’s were very friendly and helpful.

Bed was comfy. Room was very quiet. Value for money. Facilities were great. Bathroom was well lit with a nice big mirror. Plenty of electric sockets

The lack of a sink drainer and the position of the sink. Car parking was tight. Shower over the bath was awkward for me i prefer a walk in shower

The staff were very attentive and very helpful. Also the bar was lively and the staff once again very friendly and attentive.

Paid nearly £200 for what was described as a suite for one night. Very dated and poorly decorated room. Painting not finished properly, and the room with one single bed in wouldn't have been out of place being used as an interrogation room. Carpet in main room was stained and ruffled up!!!

I didn't feel particularly safe. Firstly a deposit of £200 was requested outside of the booking.com platform which I had never experienced before - I would have cancelled the booking but it was non-refundable. Then when I arrived at the address given in the listing I was asked to go to a different address, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The new property was all on the ground floor, which as someone staying alone, felt unsafe (the original booking had an upstairs). Lastly the bed only had a throw on it so I was quite cold and had to lay a towel on top of the throw for warmth. A week later I had still not received my deposit and had to chase (it has now been returned).

The spa and the lake

The pool, spa and gym shut before 4pm every day that we were there and the bar was closed when we went for a drink.
